A recent DNA research on the bones of a boy who lived along the shores of Lake Baikal in Siberia shows... that Native Americans share much of their genetic material with Middle Easterners and Europeans...
Published in the journal Nature, the study of the genome of the boy, who lived twenty-four thousand years ago, shows that fully one-third of his DNA was from West Eurasian peoples linked to the Middle East and Europe....
The study... could help clear up some long-standing mysteries regarding... some genetic singularities.
Co-author and ancient DNA specialist Eske Willerslev of the University of Copenhagen states "these results were a great surprise to [them]."
...it shows no evidence of any relation to East Asians who are living now...
The boy at the center of the research was about three to four years old at the time he died. He had brown eyes, dark hair, and freckles. He was buried wearing an ivory crown and beaded necklace with a carved pendant in the shah of a bird...
No one disputes that a land bridge indeed was created between Siberia and Alaska and that people must have at some point used it to get to the Americas...
Perhaps most intriguing of all, especially to anthropologists, is the fact that the boy was buried with objects indicating an origin that was far to the West of where he lived. Some of the items that were part of his burial include Venus figurines—the ubiquitous European figurines from the Paleolithic era that have been found as far West as France...
The people to which the boy who lived along Lake Baikal belonged were part of an Upper Paleolithic society called the Mal'ta.

ICE wasn’t doing their job even way back than.
There is a type of guy
who likes to roam around.
He’s never in one place.
He goes from town to town.
Me too- and possibly some others too, but I can’t recall right now.
The contrarian viewpoint is that the Western Asians are descended from native North Americans.
OH, so they “stole” the land first?
I wonder how the current “indiginous” Indians took the land away from the previous inhabitants- ill bet it wasn’t peacefully- but apparently only white folks who came later are called “violent invaders”
bkm
The boy from Mal’ta had a pendant of a bird. Was it a Mal’tese falcon?
Well, there was a lot of empty space to go around. The earliest migrants seem to have ended up in South America, so they probably got pushed there by the later migrants.
I too have long thought American Indians and Asians looked a good deal alike. Black hair, black eyes.
“Although we know that North Americans are related to East Asians, it’s striking that no contemporary East Asian populations really resemble Native Americans,” Willerslev explained.
Is not particularly surprising. Those crossing the land bridge did so a long time ago and there may have been different waves of migrations with people of different backgrounds. Natives in South America seem to look much more like East Asians. It could be that natives in North America are descended from groups with more West Eurasian ancestry.
Show me a history or science topic, I’ll show you a stupid post like yours.
DNA continues to re write our history re who were/are!
Just be sure to regurgitate *over* the rail, not on the deck. ;^)
“DNA is an acronym for Dames are Not Aggressive... in the Latin declension, my point is still moot.” — Cliff Claven
True- I wonder though what happened when the later Indians came into contact with the previous dwellers? Did,they fight and take their land away? We know that later when I dians were abundant, that tribes always fought and took land from other Indians, (not all, some were peaceful of course)- but when white folks did the same, we were the ones Called violent occupiers.
I saw, many years ago, a story about how the many of the oldest flint arrow heads, and tools, found in North America, are very similar to those of a similar age found in North Western Europe, and dissimilar to those of a similar age found in North Eastern Asia.
If humans started in Africa, everyone outside of Africa is a colonizer.
