We’re relatively rural and lose power often. Sometimes for a couple hours. Never longer than 12. We’ve heard stories, though... No worries in the spring or fall, and you just wait it out. Below freezing would be a problem.
We had a house a couple miles from here and did the whole-house standby Generac. It was wonderful. We’re pretty sure that was one of the main factors for the buyer when we sold. (That is per our realtor at the time.)

I think there are a lot of marriages a among relatively distant cousins and such. How could there not be, as closed as each community is? That can’t help. A wider gene pool would be healthier.
That’s cute. I always thought it was a British term. It’s been used for many years and some say it is derived from the term used for wood that is old and rotting, and therefore useless. Seems a tad strong lol.
So true. Up here, especially. The communities are not as large or numerous. They do tend to keep that gene pool fairly restricted, and it’s bound to have consequences.
