I make mine a little thicker but not much than a pie crust!
My daughter Lauren just recently make some with butter and they end up really good.
First time ever and she did well.
I never used butter before in dumplings but it held up with hers.
I use butter for pie crusts and cold water to make a flaky crust.

It's trial and error on all this!
I sometimes leave my lid off to thicken at the end of cooking! It's bacically the same for making homemade biscuits is what my grandmother did! It's fun either way ,and loved cooking back in the day! No one measures in my family! HA! Drives my Daughters crazy as it did me at their age! Now I do the same! ha!

My Dad, told me there are things about our government that will keep hidden forever and I'll die before the truth is told.
He was so right on how I supported the many republicans ,like the Bush clan after Reagan!
So much on JFK,etc., My Father was correct,we will never know because our govertnmet is about controlling US in the end!
I see that now and use to argue ,there has to be someone.
There is once in a lifetime a few ,but the government will destroy the one that steps our of line with them.

I personally don't like the way Bisquick tastes as you have sticky dropped dumplings as to my preference roll them out to perfection in small strips! ;)
