Very sad that she didn’t understand the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. It is vast. I gather that the abusive father had not shown remorse, repentance, and asked poor Alice for forgiveness. That’s a good sign of what she was dealing with....her poor daughters.
You’re right CB. Far too many variables. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t.
My own personal experience with forgiveness doesn’t end with a happy, feel good story, well, not completely, but I’m happy. There are some people that don’t change, and that’s not necessarily a result of forgiveness in many cases. The forgiveness is for me, to let it go, understanding what happened and accepting it., but not condoning it.
My mother was a narcissist. Not just selfish, but a personality disorder that I believe is chosen at a young age, when they decide to get their life to Satan. They never do good in the world, and go around, causing damage to others for their own benefit. Strangely enough, I can forgive her much more easily than I did my sisters. I could understand that with her traumatic childhood, she thought that was the only choice she had. My sisters on the other hand, made a conscious decision to enable her and carry out her wishes. They took the easier road.
Narcissists can cause great damage in the world, especially the intelligent ones. My mother wasn’t that bright , so her influence was only over her family. Others can cause world wars, and manipulate people to do things completely outside their personality. When I notice narcissists today, and I’ve only actually seen 2 in action, it’s not even the narcissist themselves that I notice until I see how other people act completely irrationally, frenzied, submissive, cliquish, subservient, judgemental…. Lots of ways that are not typical of many of the flying monkeys.
So sometimes the best part of forgiveness is to walk away. For me not to continue the generational dysfunction, I kept my son away from my family. When forgiveness is tied with not enduring abuse, or passing it on, then I think that is God’s will.

No hi expect he was just happy she forgave him. Or forgave him in words, maybe not spirit. I don’t know, it’s too Complicated for me.
You brought up a good point, certainly the best outcome is when both sides forgive. Truly forgive.
Kitten Saga 2.0
All the kitten still have ringworm and coccidia. It’s getting better, but still present. That’s not that big a deal, the meds will knock it out. It would do it faster if they would quit playing in the litter box!
But they can’t have their spay & neuter surgeries next week. Lots of good reasons, the clinic doesn’t need either of these diseases present. And the surgery could give the kittens a weakened immune system, and then these diseases could become highly active, even if dormant before.
I have to call the clinic to see if they were still spray the mom, she has mastitis.
This poor litter! They’ve been through so much. I’m so glad I got them though, if they were on their own, I’m sure some wouldn’t make it.
I’m so grateful for my vet. It was only $174 today. $104 was a blood test for my dog. And I came home with lots of meds for everybody, even Cooper got pain medicine, and an anti-inflammatory for his arthritis.
LOL she’s the only Vet that I ask if they are sure when they tell me the amount, because I think it’s too low. That has happened several times. She gives a break when she knows they are a rescue litter.
If anybody could think of a good Christmas present for her, and her staff, please let me know. I’m not very creative with this stuff. But I do want to express my gratitude.

Very sad, should never put somebody in a dangerous position like that, bad advice. I had a friend who was molested at 13 by an uncle, suffered depression at 18, became schizophrenic at 21, for 30 years she suffered, on tons of meds, she actually was a pt. of mine in ICU. Finally she went to a church and asked for prayer, she was told to go fast and pray for 30 days, she did then came back and was prayed for , God healed her right then. I actually worked with her in ICU after that. She was an awesome Christian, even atheists loved her.

We definitely should not put our family in danger to appease irrational people, that is being a good parent. Hopefully our children will learn. Jesus said to forgive them for they know not what they do, ain't that the truth, if they only knew what the consequences were, very sad.

I’m sorry I forgot to ping you to the Kitten post. We have so many animal lovers here, I can’t remember everybody! And that’s wonderful so many have a good hearts
that’s a great vet you have, great idea to give them a Christmas present.
Wow, that’s amazing! And with that background, she could help so many others. Sometimes it takes going through something to have the empathy. I think God allows suffering so we can help others.
(I don’t know why animals have to suffer, so that’ll be my first question. If I get to ask)

I ask for Jesus to FORGIVE ME, because many times I do not know what I have done to hurt or offend others. If they don’t tell you, how can you know?

Ahhhh the narciccist. I have some experience with a few of them as well. They don’t care how much damage they inflict, because it is never their fault. It’s always about them. Other people are only there in order to fulfil something they need. My MIL was a narcissist, complete control over her three perfect sons. Everything had to be about her, so I think I know what you mean, CB. Nothing but strife and turmoil in her wake, and yet she thought so highly of herself.
I have long gotten over her, but did stop having anything to do with her many years ago. She was not a nice person. Let me put it this way....she had 5 daughters-in-law, 3 Italian, 2 Canadian (she was Italian), and they all despised her for the underhanded and very damaging way she manipulated her sons and caused many problems in their marriages. But she had a lot of people fooled - her “community” thought she was wonderful! Probably because of how she talked about herself lol.
Sorry to rant.....but narcissists are the worst. I’ll bet my best narc story would make you shake your head!
