Actually, let me qualify my statement.

Russia is 100% guilty of committing an act of war in Ukraine. The invasion is a violation of every rule, law, moral standard. Putin is mobster.

Russia gains zilch by an unstable middle east.

An unstable Middle East means Europe and especially America pay more attention there, and that's less money and equipment getting wasted in Ukraine. Not that Russia cando much more there, all they can really hope for is a ceasefire to keep the land they've already taken.
