This is an ongoing thread – meaning come back to chat, post information, or ask questions any time. Hopefully the thread won’t stagnate and I’ll do better at posting weekly (or bi-weekly) topics than I have in the past. (anyone willing to post a topic now and then we'll be highly praised and appreciated).
We are in for some bumpy rides, and prepping can only help. If for peace of mind, if nothing else. We have a wonderful gardening thread and a current-events survival/prepping thread, and hopefully this one can piggyback off of those, maybe having a longer discussion about certain topics or … whatever. It's your thread, do what you like with it! (civilly, of course)
Here are granny’s threads, if anyone wants to peruse them:

Ramadan,2024 Monday, March 11, 2024 (c/o Duckduckgo.com/Search)
" Ramadan (also known as Ramadan or Ramzan) is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar.
It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity-giving and self-accountability for Muslims in the United States.
The first verses of the Koran (Qu'ran) were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ..
during the last third of Ramadan, making this an especially holy period."
"Ramadan, a holy month of fasting, prayer and devotion to God, will be in March this year.{ in North America}
In 2024, the holy month begins on Monday, March 11 and is expected to end on Tuesday, April 9.
The timing of Ramadan follows the lunar cycle and is dependent on the sighting of a crescent moon at the first and end of the month.
The fasting period typically lasts between 29-30 days."
"The end of Ramadan is celebrated with Eid al-Fitr or "the feast of fast breaking"
which is expected to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10 this year."

As far as I can tell fish antibiotics are no longer available OTC. The FDA swooped in and stopped their sale.
oh bummer! well, I guess medicinal plants are all that’s left
thx for the update
In a quick search, I found some online pharmacies that sell fish antibiotics. Back when I was first trying to get some, it was always a little flaky. Seems to still be the same with some not selling them, requiring prescriptions, the places that sell them seem to come and go.
I remember the last time there was a rumor that they had halted the sale of antibiotics. I’m sure they want to. But that would completely destroy the home fish hobby. Who’s going to take their fish to a vet? Plus they seem to need antibiotics quite often. I imagine the place is selling them are looked into and that might be why they change whether they sell them or not, or new ones pop up only to disappear shortly after.
Here’s what I found today using duckduckgo, this was just the first page so there’s more. About half the ones that showed up no longer sold them or the domain was even for sale.

Thanks for that info. I have used FishMoxFisFlex and have been getting emails from them about being unable to sell product because of FDA issues. So maybe it is just them
This is a copy of the email FishMoxFishFlex sent out regarding their lack of stock. Makes it sound like it’s industry wide...
“It’s been about a month since we ran out of inventory and we wanted to send out an update email. Unfortunately we are still unable to get any Fish Medicines as all the current suppliers have received letters from the FDA.
That means that Midland Vet and other manufacturers still haven’t heard any new updates from the FDA about if or when they can get approval on their products. We are hoping that in the future we will have products that are approved and we can begin selling again but unfortunately right now we don’t have any timelines or ETA’s.”
I used them a lot also, so I what’s the price they were out of stock on everything. I guess that explains it, they’re being questioned.
I meant I was surprised they were out of stock
That definitely sounds industry wide. I wonder if some of the others just had a bigger in stock amount. You would think the price would be skyrocketing, if so.
What was the date on that email?
February 24, 2024
Recent then. I can’t remember exactly why I asked now! LOL
Our feral government in sync with One Worlders is dedicated to stomping out anything that gives us the the slightest bit of freedom and independence.
That would explain not only a war on Fish Antibiotics (if true) but the latest biased idea floated that home gardening is bad because of the carbon footprint.
A neighborhood watch group, consisting of trustworthy people, could be helpful.
A detailed book about this: “A Failure of Civility”, which is hard to get now
Book is out of print and sellers are asking insane prices from $175 to $500BUT - you can get a free full PDF Download here:

Thanks...I've read a ton of supply lists and can't ever remember salt being featured if it's even on there.
I usually don’t see it listed either.
But when I read Alas Babylon and one of the One Second after series, both mentioned salt as being important and used in bartering. That’s what brought it to my attention.
Now, some canned foods like soups, and some dried foods, like sauces and flavorings have salt added. So there are extra sources. But in general, you can lay in quite a supply without taking up a large amount of space. Especially if you use it wisely.
Thank you!
thanks IM
First, for the research about the book. And then second, for the link!
Actually, they went forward.
