CATL, a name that has become synonymous with cutting-edge battery technology, continues to solidify its position as the world’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturer. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, CATL has been a crucial player in the electric vehicle ecosystem, supplying batteries to some of the biggest names in the automotive industry, including Tesla.
Recently, CATL made headlines by unveiling its latest marvel – a new lithium-ion phosphate battery that promises to redefine the benchmarks for EV performance. This groundbreaking technology claims to add approximately 400 kilometers (around 249 miles) of range in just a 10-minute charge and enables electric vehicles to travel over 700 kilometers (around 435 miles) on a single charge. These numbers are not just incremental improvements; they represent a quantum leap in battery technology.
The implications of this new technology are far-reaching, especially for Tesla, which currently sources lithium-ion phosphate batteries from CATL. With the potential for faster charging times, increased range, and improved cold-weather performance, this new battery technology could be a game-changer, not just for Tesla but for the broader electric vehicle industry as well.

If it is true this would seem to represent a significant advance in EV charging, and abilities. Much better cold-weather performance as well.
Both companies represent the best of the best, globally.
The government wants to herd us like CATL.
Hee hee.
That’s pretty funny.
dont care
its a trap!
dont encourage them
434 miles on a charge? What time of year and what conditions? My friend has a Tesla and it’s rated about 323 miles per charge. In the winter he is lucky to get 225-235 Miles per charge....then has to look for another charging station, etc.
15 minutes is probably to 80% charge at most.
There’s got to be some way to transfer to a smaller battery format, much like HD changed to SSD.
I’d simply charge up my thumb drive. Oh? Never mind.
About time they started incorporating Alien technology.
Ooohhh. So impressed! /s
“In the winter he is lucky to get 225-235 Miles per charge....then has to look for another charging station, etc.”
Probably charges at home.
do they burn hotter too?
Highly skeptical. No mention of the TYPE of charger used to get this “10 minute” charging time.
Level 1, 2 or 3? Level 1 and 2 can be used at home for 120/240V, Single Phase services. Level 3 is typically rated at 480V/3 Phase which is only found at super-charging or public charging.
I gassed up in 3 minutes this morning.
And had my choice of 20 gas stations on the way to work.
And the vehicle fires will be even hotter and more difficult to extinguish than they now are, as well as probably wiping out much of the recharging capability in the US. And remember, CATL is a CHINESE company fully under the control of the CCP, do we want to become dependent of a hostile rival in the world for our technology, or should be we be weaning ourselves off from this globalist interdependency? China can fight a war without depending on the US, at least on the short term, while the US cannot maintain logistics for more than maybe 15 minutes before they start showing critical shortages.
When you're transferring the same amount of energy in a shorter amount of time, something is getting hotter.
“much like HD changed to SSD.“
With all due respect that is a preposterous comparison.
Dream on. Musk has to obey the laws of physics and such a battery is unlikely. However Tesla can release almost any information, have it resound through the media and the stock price goes up. Nice scam.
I’d be very open to buying an EV with this type of performance....if they cost $25K. At the current EV prices, I’ll stick to my gas guzzlers.
Exactly. They need to do something about the safety and the fires first.
