I could be wrong, but didn’t I read that Mayorkas got his funding pulled out from under him? If that’s true, I suspect that’s likely the reason for his about-face. He’d put up a dozen walls if it meant getting his $ back.
Also, election coming up and the less they have to cheat, the easier it will be.

I am so familiar with that. All of my grandmother’s and aunts and mother’s recipes are like that. It’ll say things like add enough salt. Really hard when you’re a new cook but I think I have figured most of them out.

Even when I follow a recipe, when it says 1 teaspoon or tablespoon of vanilla, well, that’s just funny to me. I pour vanilla, I don’t measure it.

I’m reading a lot of confident tweets saying that now these few Pubbies have full control over the speaker and the agenda. The speaker has to follow their agenda, or else.
Here’s what I don’t get. If the House votes on kicking out the Speaker as they did with McCarthy, don’t they need Dem votes? I assumed the 6 or 8 or whatever it was joined in the the dems to oust McCarthy. Is that what happened?
If that is the case, then can’t the dems, if a new speaker proves weak and doesn’t go along with the Gaetz crowd, decide to vote to keep the speaker? If the handful of “hard right” are depending on the dems to oust a speaker, isn’t that rather unreliable?

I went and got a haircut this morning, took care of the animals, and now it’s time to relax by the pool. Decorated with pumpkins. So far the cats are still really good, yesterday they went in even before I did. I just don’t want them getting cocky and running off.
Recipes were always in our grandma’s heads.
I’ll never forget asking my Swiss Grandmother to write down her Swiss pastry recipe for Dutchlies.
She wrote that it called for a cup of salt.
Now we knew that couldn’t be right.
