Now I have another one because I am confused about how this all works.....
I’m reading a lot of confident tweets saying that now these few Pubbies have full control over the speaker and the agenda. The speaker has to follow their agenda, or else.
Here’s what I don’t get. If the House votes on kicking out the Speaker as they did with McCarthy, don’t they need Dem votes? I assumed the 6 or 8 or whatever it was joined in the the dems to oust McCarthy. Is that what happened?
If that is the case, then can’t the dems, if a new speaker proves weak and doesn’t go along with the Gaetz crowd, decide to vote to keep the speaker? If the handful of “hard right” are depending on the dems to oust a speaker, isn’t that rather unreliable?
It takes 218 yea votes to elect a Speaker.
The pubbies have 222 members, don’t know if that crazy lying nut from NY, Santos, can still vote or not.
So the pubbies have to basically all be on the same page to elect a new pubbie Speaker.
That is why the 20 pubbies would not vote for McCarthy till he agreed to what they wanted, which as you can see, the mtv was one of those things and led to his demise.
McCarthy even admitted yesterday that Nasty had told him that she had his back, he counted on Demonrat votes to save him, he didn’t need to do what he promised the 20 and actually us too.
He thought WRONG, Nasty screwed him. LOL
Yes, all the Demonrats voted with the pubbie 8 to oust McCarthy.
I heard that Gaetz actually expected the Demonrats to save McCarthy, he was their perfect weak Speaker.
Not sure what the Demonrats have up their sleeve, but I hope we get a much stronger conservative Speaker out of this.
