Submarine Cables and the Rise of Mass Surveillance
Youtube ^ | Aug 16, 2023 | Johnny Harris

Interesting video detailing how all of the underground cables in the oceans allows for listening in on all communications passing through these myriad of submarined cables worldwide.

If nothing else, it's interesting just how many of these cables there are.

But, the bad part is there is no privacy anymore. The good thing is that it's makes keeping track of bad guys easier.

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private. • Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

This is an example of that. Talk about timing, LOL

Yes it was said tongue in cheek, when it comes to this administration.

Signal ain't all that. Evidently the NSA can read messages in the app. They did it to Tucker Carlson's account.

What it all boils down to is you can't trust any app on any app store. You'd have to compile the code yourself (and ensure you have unaltered code through comparing checksums, etc.) and that could be still be dodgy because who has the time to determine what the compiler is doing? There could be special cases buried deep inside that. Security is hard.

What it really boils down to is that NSA has the tools to break any encrypted methos devised, in time. Security isn’t hard, it’s impossible. You may be safe for a while, but it will not last. That is just the reality.
