The Flat Earther next door: These are the US states with highest share of conspiracy theorists, based on residents' internet search history... so do YOU live in a flat or round state? Alaskans were the most interested in 'Flat Earth' theories, Google searches show New Jersey natives entertained 'Flat Earth' claims least, per same search data
Earth's greatest minds have known our world is round since at least as far back as the day Pythagoras made his calculations in ancient Greece over 2,000 years ago.
But as you might have guessed from fighting with relatives and old friends on Facebook, as many as 10 percent of Americans still believe the earth is flat, according to survey data compiled in 2021.
If you're looking for a place offline to get away from conversations about 'Flat Earth' conspiracy theories (or maybe where to go to join your fellow true believers), a new analysis of Google searches across all 50 US states might help.
Die-hard 'Flat Earthers' may want to bundle up before relocating to Alaska, whose residents searched the most for information on the widely discredited theory.
And those looking to move on from the 'Flat Earth' debate entirely may want to find space in the densely populated state of New Jersey, which had the lowest interest in researching the topic online per 10,000 residents.
Find out below if you live in a 'Flat State' or a 'Round State.'

Go to the beach at your local ocean and look at the horizon...
Believe it or not, flat Earthers have an explanation for this. It is stupid but bless their hearts, they try.
I wonder how much the Illuminati paid him to do that.
I see what you did there.
I think...
It was Elon Musk in 2017 that asked the Flat Earther folks a wonderful question:
“Is Mars flat.”
Their “official” answer was that Mars was round.
I wonder where you stand on that question.
Add in a good pair of binoculars/zoom camera and you can
bring it into view before it hits your eye's vanishing point/horizon.
Just like this man did with a lighthouse...Flat Earth - Zooming on Lighthouses and a ship
Next you'll say you can't believe your own eyes or the video is fake.
How many of those in the article are posters here on FR? We certainly have more than our fair share of nutter flat earthers here.
I do not support the Flat Earth “theory”—but I would never ever call the supporters names.
There is a very practical reason for that—it is impossible to persuade anyone of anything if they don’t like you.
If humans actually landed there that would persuade you to change your view—correct?
There are actually two kinds of “theories” about anything.
—Falsifiable and non-falsifiable
—Falsifiable theories means that the advocates of that view could change their mind if certain new information was verified to their satisfaction.
—Non-falsifiable theories means than no new facts or discovery could ever disprove the theory.
Imho the first type of theory—no matter how unpleasant or how difficult to believe—is not “nuts”.
The second type of theory is nuts.
Some people don’t want to be persuaded. They just want to troll.

It has been there for years—they believe what they are saying.
From children maybe. From grown adults, no.
There are many folks who disagree with you on thousands of topics. It is easy for them to call you “nuts”.
That is not useful to anyone and solves nothing.
You can watch and learn how to have civil discussions with people you disagree with...
or not.
Those topics aren’t nutter conspiracy theories.
One person’s “nutter conspiracy theory” is another person’s “conspiracy fact”.
Stick around and watch the show—let us see if the local Flat Earth person wants to have a civil discussion on this topic.
I’m not engaging in conversations with people who have their minds made up that the earth is flat, that the moon landings were fake, that the trade centers were brought down by explosives, or that the CIA is behind Iranians hijacking tankers. They are all just plain stupid.
You can agree, or not.
