Handyman finds clever way to remove squatters from mother's house

After squatters took over his mother's home, one handyman took the law into his own hands and uncovered a clever way to force them out.

United Handyman Association founder Flash Shelton became the squatter himself.

"I dissected the laws over a weekend. I basically figured out that until there's civil action, the squatters didn't have any rights. So if I could switch places with them, become the squatter myself, I would assume those squatter rights," Shelton said Thursday on "Varney & Co."

After his father died, the family was trying to sell the home but learned squatters had taken over the residence. Squatters are individuals who do not own or rent a property but live there anyway.

Upon calling law enforcement, Shelton learned there was little police could do.

"I called local law enforcement, and as soon as they saw that there was furniture in the house, they said that I had a squatter situation and they had basically no jurisdiction and they couldn't do anything," he said.

Shelton then decided to he could use squatters rights to take back his home. As a precaution, he also had his mother write and notarize a lease.

"I packed up my jeep, drove up there and paced out the joint around 4 a.m. I waited. About 8:00, 8:30 in the morning, three cars pulled out of the driveway and I made entrance to the house. I put up cameras, waited for them to come back," he said.

"They didn't have a lease, so that never came into play. But when they came back, I just laid it out for them, told them that it was all locked up, cameras, and the only way they would get back in the house is if they broke in on camera, and I would prosecute. I told them they had a day to get their stuff out or the furniture was not theirs anymore."

In many cities across the U.S., squatting is becoming a worse problem often due to progressive policies favoring squatters and tenants over landlords.

According to Madison Ventures+ managing director Mitch Roschelle, real estate markets in cities like New York City, Philadelphia and Los Angeles could face an exacerbated squatter problem.

In New York, squatters are granted rights after just 30 days, which makes it harder to evict. It’s a similar story in Los Angeles, where landlords are often forced to pay just to get rid of tenants who fail to pay. And in Philadelphia, even after a court orders a person out of a home, sheriffs might show up to evict, but end up leaving rather than cause a confrontation.

"The laws are written to protect the tenant, not the landlord," Roschelle told Fox News Digital in June. "The local laws that protect tenants at the expense of landlords have fueled this phenomenon because we've basically said forever it's the landlord's fault, not the tenant's fault if the tenant can't pay rent."

He further warned landlords: "The law is not on your side."

This is the natural progression of law and justice in our secular Republic.

As I understand it, slum lords and other seedy, immoral, unethical and predatory type of landowners had been taking advantage of the lower classes for centuries. It was common practice all over Europe to financially rape and exploit their tennants which motivated so many of our ancestors to take a perilous and expensive boat trip to the USA. Unfortunately, the same greedy bastard landowners followed close behind.

Fast forward 200+ years and the USSC finally put an end to those very same practices.

Now, fast forward another 20 - 30 years and it’s the flip side of the coin. Just a different class of grifters abusing and exploiting a loophole in the law.

Every theory or law works great on paper but put it into practice and there will always be plenty of other grifters out there looking for loopholes.

The Lord Almighty graciously bestowed upon us 10 simple laws, and without “lawyers” (or liberal leftists) those are the only laws we need to this very day.

Most the pity that the idea and term “lawyer” was ever deemed necessary.

When the house across my street was bein built, a homeless guy went in one night to sleep.
Next morning, the Mexican drywall crew arrived to sand the previous day’s work.

They found him asleep in one of the rooms, but did not disturb him, and just went on with their work.

My wife said he was covered from head to toe with sheetrock dust when he pedaled his bicycle out of there..................

I’m just pointing out that this goes on all over the country, like an ORGANIZED CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE.

These people are not just ‘random’ criminals.

There were many stories I did not post...................

In many cases the electricity and water is already turned off. They don’t care. They will build a fire in the back yard or even in the house on a BBQ grill.

They crap all over the place...................

I know. Crazy, isn’t it?

I was explaining this last night to my brother and his wife, and they didn’t believe me when I told them that in many, if not all cases, you won’t get any help from the authorities.

I don’t know about other states, but in Florida the property ownership can be verified immediately on line at the county website Property Appraiser’s records. All our cops have the internet in their squad cars..................

I would have taken ALL their stuff and put it to the curb.

Certainly not all states. But I have given this some thought, and I wonder if it is something like this:

HOMEOWNER: Sir, these people have invaded my home and locked me out.

POLICE: They are saying you let them live there and are now trying to evict them.

HOMEOWNER: I have the title to the property right here!

POLICE: Yes, but that doesn’t mean you didn’t give them access to it, and when it comes to property being loaned, let, or rented, the law states (insert legal blather here) so it is a civil matter you need to take up in court.

Happened to us. Tenant didn’t pay water, water got shut off. The bastard continued to use the toilets, water or no water.

It made me angry to even think about this. Seems like it is happening more often with each passing day.

Like the people who enter stores, steal things in broad daylight, and walk out with their booty.

If one set up a fully loaded SAW and used it even once, we wouldn’t see this. But the Left is all in on this.

As Freeper Mean Daddy accurately pointed out, this is an attack on personal property rights, in the same way they are attacking capitalism, family, religion, law and order, etc. in an effort to topple the country so they can erect a “fundamentally transformed” one in their own image.

They just don’t know that Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and Hussein have already done this before so the surprise is spoiled for those of us who pay attention.
