The Stockton Police Department is across the street from this 7-Eleven...

Yep. At the local market in Hayden. Absolutely mind boggling. It actually got a bit better. The kid told me “Maybe we learned about ounces in school, but it wasn’t something I’d need in the real world, so I didn’t pay attention.” Yet, here he is, slinging salads and beef in the “real world” and he doesn’t know anything about weights, units, or fractions.

I could imagine him on a farm selling grain to buyers. They’d eat him alive.

The police prefer to only go after law abiding citizens.

They might get hurt if they go after criminals.

I will defend the clerk to some extent. When the “new math” wave hit the school district where I taught, everything became calculator-based. It was mandatory. No more learning about doing math in your head, making estimates, etc.

Teachers were even forbidden to teach the times tables! An elementary teacher I knew passed out the times tables to her class. Can’t hurt, right? Well, the principal found out and ordered her to collect all those times tables. Students are not to have times tables. They distract from the calculator.

Most teachers try, they really do. But they are now lead by administrators who are woke, vindictive, and incompetent. (Really bad combo, there.)

On a trip back to the South a few decades ago, I popped into a coffee shop for a pick me up. Saw that I was going to get 90 cents back in change, so I flipped a dime on to the counter. I got a dull-eyed "whut's that for?" in response. Spent the next 5 minutes trying to explain it and eventually gave up and said just gimme the change. This was in Memphis, btw.

As for that kid in Hayden, I hope he never takes up reloading for a hobby.

The Sikhs were super cool. They could have killed the dumbass. They were whipping him with a slapstick, not a bat or club. They wanted him to be healthy enough to pass the word to leave that place alone. You know they had knives they could have used to deflower him. The butthead claimed to have a gun but I didn’t see that the Sikhs took it away from him. And I hope they get a restitution order for the dummy to pay for the damage. That might encourage him to get a job?

He looks totally employable, highly doubt he would have a criminal record anything. He should manage a bank, design rockets, or perform brain surgery.

I mean any other conclusion about his appearance would be way-sis and we can’t have prior experience lead us to draw conclusions…

My point: He’s a loser who should be in jail until he no longer breathes. Shame the store owner didn’t put this retard in a coffin.

That doesn’t surprise me at all. It is very common, when they have to give change, that they cannot count the change.

They located 42-year-old Tyrone Frazier at the scene. Frazier was arrested in connection to the series of robberies at 7-Eleven, burglary, and other outstanding warrants.

Looks like he's busy little criminal...

Wow, isn’t it awful!?

You raise a very good point. My point was how bad math education has gotten (not to pick on that kid). You explained the root cause well.

My sister taught math to middle- and high-school kids for over 40 years and retired a year ago. She was old school and taught math drill, memorization, times table, etc. She forbade calculators to force mental math. Her classes were consistently rated at the top. She had to fight the administration and do enough of their useless crap to keep them at bay, but she stuck to her guns.

“Reloading” — no kidding!

I’ve taken up pizza making as a hobby. There’s simple math involved to calculate the crust ingredients and timing (they even call it “bakers’ math”!). I don’t think he’d make it creating pizzas, but failures wouldn’t be as spectacular as miscalculating loads.

Is it important for the news source to identify the 7-Eleven staff by their religion?

Nice hobby. Not as potentially fatal as a reloading error. Especially with a powder like Hercules 2400.
