Yep. At the local market in Hayden. Absolutely mind boggling. It actually got a bit better. The kid told me “Maybe we learned about ounces in school, but it wasn’t something I’d need in the real world, so I didn’t pay attention.” Yet, here he is, slinging salads and beef in the “real world” and he doesn’t know anything about weights, units, or fractions.

I could imagine him on a farm selling grain to buyers. They’d eat him alive.

On a trip back to the South a few decades ago, I popped into a coffee shop for a pick me up. Saw that I was going to get 90 cents back in change, so I flipped a dime on to the counter. I got a dull-eyed "whut's that for?" in response. Spent the next 5 minutes trying to explain it and eventually gave up and said just gimme the change. This was in Memphis, btw.

As for that kid in Hayden, I hope he never takes up reloading for a hobby.
