And his family!
“I know because of the childhood I had, I hardened my heart so I wouldn’t get hurt anymore. It is very difficult for me to show or feel a lot of emotion.”
Me too. I think I was born that way, as from an early age I remember always thinking instead of feeling. Also as my mom was very abusive, I figured I wouldn’t give her or anyone the satisfaction of thinking they were capable of hurting me. My dad taught me to be tough too, in a good way though. Personal responsibility, etc.
Then I read a lot, different historic characters, a lot of them native Americans and how they dealt with things.
A lot of friends and coworkers have called me Mr. Spock. I went to a marriage counselor once and my husband was complaining about my lack of emotion and I wasn’t dependent on him. The counselor tried to explain to him that I was simply a thinker, and though I did feel I didn’t always outwardly express it. And he tried to explain to him that a being marriage partners doesn’t equal codependency. My husband didn’t go back.

Wow. So many sad stories. I could add a few of my own, but it’s not necessary.
One thing that really jumped out at me was this. As sad and horrific as these happenings had to be, what struck me is that these various hardships seemed to turn out such good adults.
Honestly, I tutored for years, and the kids that I encountered over the years all seemed to have lots of stuff, and very few hardships. Most of them didn’t turn out to be the responsible, considerate adults that y’all seem to be. I know it’s a view from afar, but I long ago came to the conclusion that spoiling really does mean SPOILED. As in rotten. As in not much good for anything.
I guess it’s a combination of hardships, difficult relationships, even some abuse.....but giving it over to God to heal and transform makes everything better. As Scripture tells us, we go through turmoil and come out of it for the purpose of helping others in the same situation.
What you and others have overcome and turned around for your own families is a remarkable feat. Kudos to you all.
That is SO true… for whatever reason my sister and I were treated tougher and with more discipline (not abusive - well, borderline with my mom), while our brothers got to do whatever they wanted and rarely got in trouble.
Guess who in my family had the hardest time in the real world?
My brothers have had a difficult time keeping jobs, relationships, and managing money. My sister and I ended up much more responsible and ethical. Both of us handle money better too. So, all in all, I am thankful my parents were as tough on me as they were.
how about it.
seems environment made no difference when it comes to bullying...
my sister and i were raised in a german roman catholic orphanage from the time I was 8 and she was 6, til we graduated from H.S.

Like loading a MiaT thread on a 56k modem.
😂😂
Cute.
That’s what I observed, Lil.
The kids who were spared of hurt feelings, having to stay in and clean their rooms, sit down and be quiet when adults were speaking, etc. All of them grew into spoiled, entitled adults who melt down if something actually doesn’t go their way. They expected to be fawned over for doing what a good kid was supposed to do.
It was the kids who had to suffer through some difficulties and hardships that rose up and made good lives for themselves. Not without some healing and growing, but they did it. Also, and I can’t stress this enough, they were the ones who cared about the feelings of others. They were the ones with empathy. They were the ones to help. The other ones were so immersed in their own self-induced problems, and whining about how life isn’t fair, that nobody would even dream of going to them for help or understanding. Absolutely useless to humanity.
OMG. MiaT. Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in years. Can’t even remember what it’s about, but I seem to recall it with some fear and trepidation.....I think I was on dial-up back then lol.
click on one of her threads then go to dinner and a movie until it loads.

She’s still around? Oh my. I remember large colorful stuff everywhere, filling my screen, yelling at me lol. I’ll have to check her out.
no...hasn’t been around for a long time...some of her posts are ...
I can’t say what my granddaughter has, she is in UT and I thought her parents were helping her get the best representation she could get.
i meant “when you clicked on one of her threads back then...”
I can’t wait for those statements to be read in a courtroom
“She is a Wicked Witch whose husbands journey from hell starts and finishes with her.”
She should never have messed with him
your goats like the trampoline?
Thank you for posting.
that’s a horrible thing to do to a cat!!!
The rescue lady I work with called, she’s got three cats that people have called about and she has no more room. I could take them but I know it’ll be just like having three of my own, three more of my own. Rescue cats rarely get homes. At least not here
I found out in 2020 the county I live in Franklin, is the ONLY one in WA State that uses Dominion. So far we have been a very conservative county, but I fear that is changing.
From a link:
“And in Franklin County, Auditor Matt Beaton, a Republican, said they’ve had no troubles with the software, and they plan to continue using the system.”
“Unlike in other states, Franklin County doesn’t use a Dominion in-person voting system because all ballots are hand-marked by voters and delivered by mail or into drop boxes.”
“Also, the Dominion system is not connected to the internet in Franklin County, so there is no risk of a cyber attack.”
“It’s not like anyone can get into it,” Beaton said. “If you’re not in the room, you’re not going into the system.”
“The county also retains all the ballots, so if there are any concerns, they can check the results.”
“And when the system finds a ballot with a problem, a county employee contacts the voter to resolve it.”
I recall a time when they called to verify my husbands handwriting, to make sure it WAS his signature. Because as he started failing his handwrighting got worse. The last time he voted he did an X and had 2 witnesses.
