I Had 12 Cans of Mountain Dew Every Day — Here’s What Happened When I Stopped
New York Times ^ | July 31, 2023 | Jane Herz

Chris Stewart, 37, used to drink 12 cans of Mountain Dew a day and eat large McDonald’s meals for lunch — until he saw a photo of himself at his dad’s funeral that made him feel “sick.”

“Who is going to carry my casket?” Stewart recalled to SWNS. “I thought if I didn’t change something I’m going to die.”

The Illinois forklift driver weighed 400 pounds at his heaviest, wearing a size 5XL. He would consume two cans of Mountain Dew each morning when he woke up and two McDonald’s cheeseburgers, a McChicken sandwich and fries for lunch.

There is Zero Sugar Mountain Dew.

Probably loaded with aspartame though.

Around here you can sometimes find 2 liter bottles of Dr Pepper made with real sugar. Look for green labels on the bottles. Same price as regular Dr Pepper. And Kroger had 12 packs of 12 ounce cans of Pepsi with real sugar (Walmart has 7 ounce cans in 6 packs about the same price as the 12 ouncers. And of course, lots of Mexican Cokes and single serve bottles of sugar Dr Pepper for about $1.25 a bottle.

During the holy days the Tom Thumb (local name for Albertsons) in the Jewish area has the Kosher 2 liter Cokes (yellow caps?) but that’s a bit of a drive from my Asian / Mexican part of town.

Well, that much of the good old mountain dew would have had a different effect.

That’s a good recording.

Mountain Dew is actually quite tasty, if you like soda pop.

The problem is when they call fast food a ‘meal’ because it includes a drink and fries.

There’s not a lot wrong with a loaded burger when it’s absent mayo & cheese. Quite flavorful, in fact. More & fresher veggies, even better.

One of the best burgers here locally is a small restaurant which serves 1/4 lb burgers on fresh buns and with super fresh veggies. I get mine dry without cheese. Incredibly wholesome and flavorful, but I do prefer a thickburger on my own grill cooked to medium.

He would probably have weighed 150 pounds less if he did not drink mountain dew in the first place.

There is no “sugar” in Mountain Dew. It’s high fructose corn syrup.

That garbage will give you pancreatic cancer.

Might I suggest that he doesn’t like eating. He likes to poop.

Does he have false teeth?

If a person drank that much Mountain Dew a day, I don’t think they’d have a tooth left in their head.

Soda isn’t good for you, whether it has sugar, fake sugar, or no sugars.

He credits his 36-year-old wife, Nicole, for his success, as she was a great support system for him.

“I’m so glad she stayed with me,” Stewart told SWNS. “I was a disrespect to our relationship.”

“Weight loss is easy. I just switched my mindset. It’s you versus you,” he added.

Wise words.

Eat a calorie deficit diet and you’ll lose. Each slice of cheese is about 110 calories which adds up quickly.

I was wondering, would it be burger-burger-chicken? Or burger-chicken-burger? Maybe he mixed it up, you know like the chicken would be appetizer one day and dessert the next. No, he’d have a couple Mt. Dew’s for dessert...

“ Sugar is the root cause of most obesity in the world today.”

Absolutely. The misconception among many is that fat leads to fat. The French eat a lot of fat but they are not fat. Insulin is the real culprit. Insulin is triggered by sugar.

Oh yeah, you can fat shame guys. You can’t fat shame women. Thats right. Society is so effed up. This is why men are checking out. We don’t have to play along with everyone else.
