Absolutely. The misconception among many is that fat leads to fat. The French eat a lot of fat but they are not fat. Insulin is the real culprit. Insulin is triggered by sugar.

I’m constantly hearing about how the French guzzle butter by the pound but are charmingly svelte, but when I go to France I can’t help but notice that the nicotine consumption particularly among women is approximately quadruple what it is in the U.S. Cigarettes are not only an appetite suppressant but nicotine is also a metabolism accelerant.
Also, it’s a fact that most Europeans walk more than the average American as the typical lifestyle of commuting/shopping is less car-oriented.
I’m not saying sugar consumption differences play zero role, but I suspect sugar’s role isn’t as great as you think.
