After the success of 2023’s The Little Mermaid, Disney’s next live-action project is a remake of Snow White — but not everyone is excited about the new movie.
A live-action version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has been in development since at least 2016, but production didn’t kick off in earnest until 2021. In June of that year, Deadline reported that Rachel Zegler had landed the role of the titular princess, who made her Disney debut in 1937. (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Disney’s first full-length animated film.)

“People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it’s like, yeah, it is — because it needed that,” Zegler, who is of Colombian and Polish descent, told Vanity Fair in October 2022. “It’s an 85-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond ‘Someday My Prince Will Come.’”

I dont care if disney makes a full black version. Its none of anyone's business how disney spends their money unless it is immoral.
So it is ok for Disney to allow this,
You probably work in Hollywood.
“as ridiculous as remaking movies like “The Color Purple” with an all-white cast.”
Or “Roots” with an all-white cast. Steve Martin as Kunta Kinte?
Suggest that in addition to the woke garbage that is fundamentally racist, perhaps a supplemental reason for these flops is a lack of original thought. Remakes of the fairy tales, remakes of the comic book heroes, remakes of cartoons to live action, remakes of live action to cartoons.... Yeah, I’m really looking forward to the 37th remake of Batman, pass the $40 popcorn.
Maybe success to them is angering white people and losing money?…
I know what liberals are driving at, but that’s not what I’m saying. No story is necessarily so sacred that it can’t be told in other interpretations, as long as the elements are there.
For libs tolerance is a one way street.
Indeed. After eight weeks, Mermaid has just barely crept into the black. Hardly a smash hit. Finally breaking even is not much of a “success.”
The could have just come up with an original story and called it "Columbian Chick and Her Sever Regular Sized Stalkers"
They can’t just make up their own story. They have to put down Snow White. That’s evil. That’s all.
When you lose $8 Billion on a string of bad movies, breaking even is a success.................
AOL is still a ‘thing’?......................
Be thankful they didn’t have Snow white say, Some day my princess will come.
Yes! They are destroying anything traditional American culture. From Boy Scouts to Sports to Super Hero’s to Families. While the goal is not to necessarily go broke ..its to substitute what was with whatever they make up.
Profits are just a means to achieve power. Once power is achieved, profits no longer matter as much. And Disney and its parent still are as powerful as ever, they don’t have to make as much profit.
Sounds like a story line coming to Bud soon ...
“Roots” came out, what, 50 or so years ago? IT’S TIME FOR A REMAKE!
I'm pretty sure audiences would be turned off when Snow White is sold into sex slavery by her parents or impregnated by her mother's boyfriend.
“After the success of 2023’s The Little Mermaid...”
When an article starts off with misinformation about a disappointment’s “success,” why trust the rest?
“How is this actually called Snow White again?”
Maybe it will center on Columbian cocaine?
Sounds like Disney is using some.
