If, like me, you find the presidential debate format a rather meaningless exercise, you will be astonished at what one-on-one interviews by a skilled interrogator can accomplish.
At the Iowa family Leader conference, Tucker Carlson interviewed several leading contenders for president Tim Scott, Asa Hutchinson, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis.
If the participants thought this was going to be another tongue bath, they were certainly surprised. He asked hard questions and some of their answers exposed their muddled thinking. At least two of them – Asa Hutchinson and Mike Pence -- were clear losers and can now be safely considered out of the running. If you haven’t had an opportunity to listen to all the interviews on the site, I’ll summarize some of the highlights.
Tucker chided Pence for being more concerned about defending the Ukraine than with dealing with domestic problems.
Tucker: "Where's the concern for the United States?"
Pence: "That's not my concern. Tucker I've heard this routine from you before. That's not my concern."
Pence tried to duck this gaffe by claiming it was out of context, but the video is undoctored and the response is clear. I believe his campaign is now dead.
He offered up an extended clip in which he said, "Anybody that says that we can’t be the leader of the free world and solve our problems at home has a pretty small view of the greatest nation on Earth. We can do both.
“And as president of the United States, we will secure our border, we will support our military, we will revive our economy and stand by our values. And we will also lead the world for freedom under my administration. I promise you.”

You are not making any sense -
As long as he can cajole people into giving him money, his campaign is not dead, but on life support.
Not true. Fair questions were asked.
You are correct in that Pence’s body language and posture was as damaging as the words out of his mouth.
His arrogant self righteous elitist anger was on full display and we could see this is who he really is.
The man could not even look Tucker in the eye. Liars are like that.
Until he asks trump about the facts of the EUA, bumpstock bans, mail in ballots and blank checks to big pharma, he is just a water carrier and nothing more, but only in regards to the elections. Everything else he is okay on, but you can’t trust anyone who supports a presidency that locked us down, while people died alone in hospitals and homes without the humanity of a funeral.
Big pharma and the marxists got everything and all was got was mail in ballots as a big middle finger to the constitution on the way out the door.
from the comments below the article:
“Regarding Pence, anyone watching and paying attention know the reference to not caring was about Ukraine, not America.
To me, the one not really challenged by Tucker Carlson was Ramaswamy. Not a single question about Soros connections, or his involvement in the Ohio Coronavirus task force that resulted in DeWine shutting down Ohio as long as Democrat governors did. Money is being spent to scrub the internet with Tucker not bringing both up.
Nor did Tucker ask him how he could be a Hindu and only believe in one god. Hindus believe in numerous gods, not a single God. He made references to God numerous times, which is a lie:’.
Good points and Pence is out which is an even better point.

Vivek could be the next Rush Limbaugh. He articulates conservatism well.
Pence shows why Republicans need to be exposed to tough questioning, Pence wants to campaign on nothing but platitudes, like “defending American Values”, which is BS, defending America should be the least we can ask a potential president to do.
The debates are somewhat meaningless, I think they should be continued if for no other reason than to put candidates into public situations outside of their comfort zone and make them answer questions under pressure, which has a way of separating real candidates from pretend ones.
What, you have a problem with Carlson? Fine, but this story IS about the event.
It was very interesting to actually have someone other than the likes of Brett Bair or Chris Wallace asking softball questions to people they like and planning attacks on people they don’t like. Was Carlson controlling the answers to those questions? Why is a question from Carlson on our behalf, or not, any more controlling than Brett Bair or Chris Wallace asking these people questions?
I see people here talking about the event. Don’t see why Carlson doing the questioning seems to bother you. Is it because it was a break from the norm?
The man could not even look Tucker in the eye. Liars are like that.
++++++++++++++
Spot on. This is also why Vivek came across so well. It all comes down to lying or being truthful. If you are truthful, you really have no problem with any interaction or line of questioning because remembering the truth is EASY. Remembering LIES, and whom you told them to, is HARD. This is why losers like Mike Pants sounds so scripted because that’s exactly what it is - scripted bulljive. He can’t speak honestly because the truth will expose him, which we just witnessed.
Why waste time on Pence. He hasn’t a chance anyway.
What Carlson DID is what is the most important element. Carlson EXPOSED to the world the field of candidates in the Republican primary. Pence tops the list as to being the worst candidate. He has as much chance of being placed on the ticket in November ‘24 as Krispy Kreme Christy! “That’s not my concern” will go down in the history books as one of the dumbest political statements on a campaign trail!
Even if the person, themselves, mentions God in the conversation?
In that situation wouldn’t it be more of a clarification than some sort of intrusion on someone’s rights?
I don’t disagree but he is already a fractional billionaire.
My main problem with this and all other debates in the last sixty years is that it just encourages the misuse of the federal Presidency.
The Presidency for our first 120 years was meant to be the chief magistrate — the chief executive. As progressives came to the forefront in both parties, Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, we lost that vision.
The Presidency became a leader, an activist and much more involved in legislation and articulating the direction that the weaker congress should go.
This led to such idiocy as George W Bush bringing his education centered Texas governorship policy up to the Federal level. Listening to Presidential debates is a litany of things that the federal Presidents should not do or should not be involved with formulating.
If you think back, it wasn’t all that long ago that we bought the script Pence was peddling. Just like the neocon Shrub family high and mighty hogwash.
Seeing it now is revolting.
