Tucker Carlson Helps Cull the Republican Presidential Field
American Thinker ^ | 16 Jul, 2023 | Clarice Feldman

If, like me, you find the presidential debate format a rather meaningless exercise, you will be astonished at what one-on-one interviews by a skilled interrogator can accomplish.

At the Iowa family Leader conference, Tucker Carlson interviewed several leading contenders for president Tim Scott, Asa Hutchinson, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis.

If the participants thought this was going to be another tongue bath, they were certainly surprised. He asked hard questions and some of their answers exposed their muddled thinking. At least two of them – Asa Hutchinson and Mike Pence -- were clear losers and can now be safely considered out of the running. If you haven’t had an opportunity to listen to all the interviews on the site, I’ll summarize some of the highlights.

Tucker chided Pence for being more concerned about defending the Ukraine than with dealing with domestic problems.

Tucker: "Where's the concern for the United States?"

Pence: "That's not my concern. Tucker I've heard this routine from you before. That's not my concern."

Pence tried to duck this gaffe by claiming it was out of context, but the video is undoctored and the response is clear. I believe his campaign is now dead.

He offered up an extended clip in which he said, "Anybody that says that we can’t be the leader of the free world and solve our problems at home has a pretty small view of the greatest nation on Earth. We can do both.

“And as president of the United States, we will secure our border, we will support our military, we will revive our economy and stand by our values. And we will also lead the world for freedom under my administration. I promise you.”

Tucker went RINO hunting. It was like fish in a barrel.

Too bad.....I’m really looking forward to pence on the campaign trail......the look in his face when he sees first hand how much people utterly dislike him is going to be priceless.

...one-on-one interviews by a skilled interrogator can accomplish...

Presidential debates, Sunday Morning talk shows, 60 minutes, all have the tools necessary to ask the questions we all would like to ask.
They do not ask the important questions.
Because, they are ALL bought and paid fake news

Pence starkly demonstrates the US has created a Frankenstein monster (albeit a short one) by slavishly supporting Zelensky.

His activities indicate the self-serving Zelensky feels supremely entitled to whatever he asks for......

US weapons, billions in US tax dollars......with total disregard for Americans’ safety and security.

Tucker chided Pence for being more concerned about defending
(and financing) the Ukraine than dealing with domestic problems.

Tucker: “Where’s the concern for the United States?”

Pence: “That’s not my concern. Tucker I’ve heard this routine from you before. That’s not my concern.”

Easily the most ignorant statement ever made by a presidential candidate.

Traitor Pence got snarky with Tucker when Tucker said Pence is running for President. “Thank you for noticing...” Trump later praised Tucker in his speech at TPUSA regarding how he exposed candidates with his questioning and said “We aren’t mentioning any names...” LOL!!

--- From AT: "Pence: "That's not my concern. Tucker I've heard this routine from you before. That's not my concern." Pence tried to duck this gaffe by claiming it was out of context, but the video is undoctored and the response is clear. I believe his campaign is now dead.

When one speaks long enough, one reveals even that which one thinks he has camouflaged. Pence's "not my concern" is rather like Obama's "above my pay grade." Attempts to avoid and then later complain about a direct quote demonstrate duplicity.

Feldman is absolutely correct, I'd say. "It takes nothing, however, from Carlson’s brilliant interviewing skills to note that this is a far better method of letting voters know about the candidates, than what is ridiculously called “debates” -- kick lines of large numbers of contenders, predictable questions from biased moderators, followed by short, often obviously scripted responses and one-line sound bites."

Whether it is Tucker Carlson or Walter Cronkite, the story is all about the talking head and not about the important event.

This is a story about Tucker Carlson, not about Pence.

Do we want Tucker Carlson to control our politicians the way we say Biden is controlled? Or do we want the politician we elect to be his own person? Not controlled by the unelected elite. To replace Soros with our own unelected elite is not a good idea.

One reason we support Trump is relatively speaking, he is not controlled by any unelected elite.

Thank you for posting this. Great summation and I absolutely agree with her take on the worthless “debates” we are subjected to every election.

Pence is the absolute poster child for the GOP in Indiana. Many, including Pence, are former Democrats who became Republicans so they could continue to be elected.

Indiana has a R super majority, but it is establishment Republicanism. Dems do socialism as fast as they can. GOPe do socialism as fast as they dare.

The main takeaway is that Ramaswamy might make a good running mate for Trump.

After those interviews were completed, the Twitter world seemed to explode with exclamations of how outstanding Vivek Ramaswamy performed. I have followed him for two years so I was not surprised and was gratified.

The thing is with Pence no matter what his answer was it was crystal clear that Ukraine is on his mind more than the United States. It’s clear to woke conservatives that Pence is and always has been deep state all the way.
