Top 10 Racist Movies Of All Time

9 The Passion Of The Christ 2004

Public perception of this movie wasn’t helped by Mel Gibson’s overt anti-Semitism, but The Passion of the Christ clearly depicts the Jewish people as the cause of Jesus Christ’s death, an unfortunate misconception that has resulted in an unknown (but certainly extremely high) number of Jewish deaths over the years.

Django Unchained and Hateful 8 were both despicable and completely unwatchable IMO.

Was going to say. Yup. Kill-whitey porn.

"Blazing Saddles" was filled with racism, but because producer Mel Brooks is an important Democrat will a big wallet, it has always escaped criticm.

I see Spike Lee's "White Men Can't Jump" didn't make the list either.

I think the Bible says it was the Jews.

More specifically, wasn't it the Sanhedrinand the high priests and those who held power and sway over the common people who insisted on the Romans crucifying Him?

Griffith was a great innovator. The Goddess of Sagebrush Gulch, a silent short from 1912 starring the enduring actress Blanch Sweet, shows his talent three years before BOAN.

Soul Man and Passion Of The Christ are on the same list as Triumph of The Will and Birth Of A Nation? Uh, OK. I'm thinking, though, that somebody's racism warning light is a little overactive here.

> Reminds me of the Charlie Chan movies from decades ago. <

I love those movies, and have a complete, remastered set.

The Charlie Chan character was almost always treated with dignity and respect. Police and governmental officials were happy to see him. None of them looked down at Charlie.

Now, here’s an interesting thing. There are a few scenes where some foppish white guy makes fun of Charlie or his accent.

The camera briefly pans over to Charlie’s face. There is a look of disgust. It’s brief, but it’s usually there. That’s something rather unusual for the 1930s! Credit to the director and the actor for doing that.

A small number of Jewish officials wanted Jesus put to death and badgered Pilate into ordering the crucifixion. Perhaps they could have tried to have Jesus stoned like Stephen was later, but maybe they didn’t think they could get a crowd to throw the stones. The crowd that yelled “crucify him!” sounds like a rent-a-mob—maybe day laborers and drunks who happened to be on the streets of the city in the wee hours. 99%-plus of the Jews at the time had nothing to do with the proceedings. But the Gospel narratives are what later Christians took their understanding from.

No one “killed” Jesus.

He let it happen, as the sacrifice to God for our sins. Had He nor done so, we would still be condemned.

John 18:36 Jesus answered (to Pilate), “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

Jesus let him know that no one could kill him unless He willed it so.

I don’t see that there is anything racist in the world. It is a BS concept. In a sane country or world, you laugh at the absurd. You are entertained by stories. They don’t have to be true, Hollywood sticking to only the true facts of things? Hasn’t and won’t happen.

We are supposed to live in a free world, let the market decide and LEAVE PEOPLE BE.

I would like to see the movie they showed the negroes in 1968 High School assemblies, only attended by negroes. I remember friends of mine who came out enraged. Walking as a group, all 10 or so of the black kids in my school. They were aggressive, and even beat up a friend of mind. Until this time, they were just kids in my school. After this, only 2 of them were ever just “part of the school” again. Something changed that day, and I am sure the assembly was held in every HS in the US.

‘More specifically, wasn’t it the Sanhedrinand the high priests and those who held power and sway over the common people who insisted on the Romans crucifying Him?’

there was undoubtedly common cause in the killing; Pilatus took a very dim view of known revolutionaries, and was so excessive that he was eventually removed and sent to some obscure post in the Empire...his portrayal in the Gospels was intended for a Graco-Roman populace being recruited by early missionaries...

Jewish revolutionaries posed problems for the Roman masters, and as such for the Jewish population itself, thus the zeal for the crucifixion; and the story of Pilatus offering to pardon a prisoner quite likely never happened...any prefect doing that would have his head examined by the Roman authorities, after it had been removed from his body...
