* The siblings' mother April Lyda told police she was asleep when her daughter woke her up to say she had stabbed her brother, Zander
****************************************************************
Police bodycam footage captured the horrifying moments after a 12-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her nine-year-old brother to death in their Oklahoma home.
The siblings' mother April Lyda told police she was asleep upstairs when her daughter woke her up shortly before midnight to say she had stabbed her brother, Zander.
The girl, who has not been named by police, is heard sobbing and repeatedly apologizing as officers arrived at the downtown Tulsa home on January 5.
The boy was rushed to the hospital and taken into surgery, but died from his injuries shortly after 2:30 a.m. CT.
The edited video, obtained by The Law & Crime Network, begins with the girl running downstairs as she yells, 'I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.'
As the girl is taken out of the home by police, Lyda appears by the door frame saying the boy has stab wounds on his chest.
'You better pray to God he f*****g lives,' she tells the girl.
'I'm so sorry, momma,' the girl replies. 'I don't know what happened.'
The handcuffed girl then leads police to the knife she supposedly used to stab her brother, which she had thrown out of a window.
Once in the patrol car, the girl asks if she's going to jail as an officer tries to console her saying it's too soon to tell.
'I ruined my life,' she says. 'I ruined my whole future. It's all my fault.'
At one point, the girl appears to pray as she says: 'God, please help me. What the f***. Please. F*** please.'

This girl sounds to me like a classic sociopath.
She was probably jealous of the boy, getting all the attention and decided to rid herself of the problem.............
the cancer comment came in relation to a math teacher she had at school. While talking to the police officer in the car, she said she hated math. But her math teacher had cancer and was off for several months and she began liking math while the teacher was off for cancer treatment. The cancer comment was not about the brother.
this child’s frequent shifting from sobbing tears, to calm and seemingly relaxed is a tell tale sign of mental disturbance like RAD. She was sobbing when discussing going to jail, not getting to go back to school, not being trusted by her mother and brother, etc. But then she would shift to other issues and be seemingly calm. Most of her focus was on her and not her brother. Another sign of RAD.
But the brother did not have cancer. It was her math teacher.
Thank you for your expeirienced ear for testimony. I thought it was her brother who had had cancer.
There was only one photo of the mother with her and her late brother; but in it, the mother is looking away from the girl, who is in a "controlled" grasp, and is gazing adoringly at the son. Hard to say if that was an all -the-time state of affairs, or just one photo. Sometimes if the child of a divorce resembles the hated ex, it goes hard for him or her with the abandoned single parent.
Now I see that if there was already an issue with that math teacher and that day was his first day back, it must have been an additional trigger. What a mess.
I would suspect the return of the math teacher might have been a trigger. It was interesting that she mentioned that. It was clearly something that was big enough for her to reference at this particular time.
I had not really paid attention to photo, but you make a good point. Mom has almost a death grip on the girl, but is looking at the boy. The more I look at this, and listen to the video, I am more convinced this child has reactive attachment disorder. I can almost assure you there were other signs. Kids with RAD don’t just all of a sudden kill. It is a progressive thing. Mom saw other stuff. That explains why mom said to the child...”you better pray that he F...ing lives.” Mom said that with a lot of anger and hatred. This was one messed up family. Living in a messed up apartment complex. With really messed up lives. 3 kids by 3 men, none of them living with the family. I would bet money this girl has been abused or severely neglected..
Thanks. I stand corrected. And I learned something I did not know.
Agree. If she has "father hunger", and was triggered by the math teacher coming back, I hope her case worker looks into whether he is a perv.
I need to listen to the footage again. I seem to think I heard something about satan or demon or something of that nature. Not sure if sociopath is correct since she was upset and expressing a form of remorse, but I’m not a sociologist or coo coo clock repairman, so what do I know.
A sociopath will feign remorse if they think it will help them.
She is upset that her life is now ruined, not that her brother is dead, and has none at all...................
Another article said she was put on “Meds”...Most likely SSRIs and it made her crazy
Hormones?
Interesting.
I am a good girl would be what one would expect. Trans?
Could be trans
No psych meds.
Hormones probably
true, she did trot that out pretty early
So I think we can see what the issue is. You’re in your late eighties, you say, so you were born before World War 2, back when people rarely used such language. You probably never served in the military or lived in circumstances in which people speak that way casually, without anger, without even strong negative meaning. It’s a mild intensifier for people who talk this way routinely. If they grow up surrounded by this language they don’t see it as bad or unchristian or even unusual; at twelve they have probably never been exposed to the idea that speech of that kind is not lovely. You’re all shocked and censorious but you don’t understand that millions of people today hear nothing else. And if this child was surrounded by thoughtless unChristian people, how do you expect her to know how to govern her speech? Really, if you are a Christian, it would be better for you to pray for her to come to know Jesus than to spend time online carping at others about what you view as their sins.
Is this where it’s appropriate to say - “you’re entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts”. I cannot comment on someone’s opinion and pray for the young girl and her family at the same time? Amazing!
~~people speak that way casually, without anger, without even strong negative meaning~~
Casually? What world do you live in? While you’re at it, try beginning a sentence without the word SO!!!!! You figured out when I must have been born? Again amazing! Starting sentences with the word “SO” establishes your age!
Bad habit!
Saw the video.A sad situation.I can’t be sure if the girl was just a good actress or if she was deeply stunned and repentant.I’m reluctant to label any 12 year old as a psychopath.
"She also references her math teacher and some issues with him. She hated math...he was gone for some time because of cancer, and she started to like math while he was gone, but he just came back and she didn’t like that."
I think she says the opposite. At about 8:08, here's what I hear her saying:
"When I first came to school, our math teacher, he had cancer, so he wasn't at school for a really long time, and yesterday was his first day back in school, and I really hated math, but I started to like it because he was there."
Later, she asks if she's "going to be able to go back to school."
"This girl isn’t a thug. She is a mentally disturbed child"
We could say the same about the thugs. Plenty of 12-year-old gangbangers were raised in similar circumstances. It's sad all around. But, I only feel heartbroken for their victims.
You are a far better Christian than I am. :-)
Growing up, I knew many kids who were raised in similar circumstances. Some of them acted out, but so did some kids who grew up in “good” homes. All kids need to learn right from wrong. But, some kids are rotten to the core.
In the video, the mother tells the officer that she heard her son scream, and she found him covered in blood. She says her daughter was nowhere to be found. So, late at night, the 12yo daughter went into her 9yo brother’s bedroom and murdered him. She probably didn’t think he would scream. I wonder... If he hadn’t screamed, would she have moved on to her mother next?
Maybe the medication caused psychosis, or maybe she had a problem with or without the meds.
The audio was difficult to make out (probably due to my tinnitus). I had to replay parts of the video a few times to hear what was said. I’m sure she says her math teacher was the one who had cancer. Then, later, she asks whether she can go back to school.
Well... This is a terribly sad story. I wish the boy had survived the attack.
Having grown up with one I'm not. My younger brother was officially diagnosed by psychiatrists at age 13 as a sociopath. He didn't give a damn about anybody or anything except himself. This girl's reaction is exactly the same as he would have done. I know all the signs and the mindset. This girl is a sociopath.....................
