Our temp was 100 today. With no air cond. when I went out to the main part of the house it is 94 in that room. I hope my laminate floors don’t buckle or I get sick going from cool to furnace blast to get my meals.

I like going to MAGA War Room and Trump War Room on twitter when Trump is speaking, neither one have a GETTR account, unfortunately.
But RSBN does so I will go there tomorrow to post what Trump is saying so I can post the video too.

This is just terrible.
At least we are able to open windows at night and have box fans blowing in the cooler night air, it got down to 60° in the house this morning (usually about 65-68)..... so when we close it up and use the ceiling fans it takes a while to heat up.....then we turn on the window AC unit.
It can get up in the high 70’s in the house in the late afternoon but we can open up the house before we go to bed and start all over.

I recall vivisitng my grandparents as a kid without AC had huge box fans in their windows to blow air on us.
These days we are so use to living with Air Condition ,it's hopeless to stay cool!
My husband's grandfather who had a little money had fans in windows ,but they had a tray on the unit to fill with water to make it cooler.
We used this during a power outage for 2 weeks after a Hurricane in Baytown Texas 1983!
Coolest thing I've ever seen. I was only 23 years of age at the time,but these fans were almost as good as an window unit! Let me say this Again.Almost as good! But it was definately cooler than the traditional fan in a window!
Wish I knew what it was.

I do have what is called a Wind tunnel fan that I put in front of an open window and another fan and a ceiling fan. But it only has been getting down to about 65 at night. It did cool the room down to 85.
I am to paranoid to open up anymore windows etc. You never know who is creeping around out there.

What your husband’s grandfather had sounds like what we called a swamp cooler.
That’s what we used growing up in Albuquerque and in our 1st home in Phx. after I married.
Only the wealthy people has AC back then.
They are called Evaporator Units. We got one right after we got married and took it with us when we moved to California. The people thought we were nuts but the neighbors liked to come visit in our cool house.
Unfortunately those types of units caused a lot of illness.
“Evaporative units used for home air conditioning are a potential source of Legionnaires’disease.”
Remember the BIG break out of Legionnaires years ago? They had these units on the roof tops.
