Owners of new Ford vehicles will continue having access to AM radio, reversing a previous decision by the company, CEO Jim Farley announced Tuesday.
"We've decided to include it on all 2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles," Farley said on Twitter and LinkedIn. "For any owners of Ford's EVs without AM broadcast capability, we'll offer a software update.”

No. They put the decision off for a year. They’re hoping people will stop boycotting after Bud Light and Target.
So you’ll still be able to listen to AM radio while driving your rainbow truck.
So the hardware is already there. Why turn it off?
“Ford CEO Announces Major Decision on AM Radio”

Usually CEOs make major announcements on Twitter these days
GOOD
Soros just bought something like 30 Spanish speaking AM radio stations so there is that
If Ford wanted preference from government programs, there were requirements. If the CEO is making decisions on vehicle radios, the company is in Hugh and series trouble.
Why did they not want to include it?
The stuff is cheap, AM is the most easy system to implement.
and who cares about sound quality!
“Software update”

Its likely in the chipset that was designed decades ago.
Attention, no more AM radio. Use FM and let the Pied Piper keep your tiny brains preoccupied. Let the sound take you away.~
I would say the FCC had a talk with them.
I do not recall any highway signs telling you to tune to a frequency modulated station for updates into certain parts of an area.
The signs do direct you to tune to amplitude modulated frequencies all over the country.
I would say the newbies didn’t see that liability coming.
AM has much better range plus it can “skip” which can send the signals hundreds of miles. I can recall when the clear channels would have people call from where in the country they were. Clear channels have just 3 call letters and share broadcast frequency with no other station.
I already mostly listen to AM radio stations in my F150 through smart phone internet radio connected to the truck’s audio system. Less extraneous interference with the “signal”.
As always, YMMV.

They are most likely using a more modern technology called a software defined radio.

To direct the army of invaders that have crossed our border?
Well, we do have significant stretches of US Highway miles where 4G-LTE signal is non existent. [5G?; Standup Comedy Time]
Then having an AM radio does the job on getting data to listen to.
These big corporations must scour the countryside to find the absolute dumbest idiots they can find to run their companies.
I was just channeling a legal argument.
You are right of course. Sometimes between Orangeburg, SC and Charlotte I get WSM out of Nashville loud and clear.
As a kid I would get the Chicago station at night very good.
That was in E. Tennessee. They used to boost the wattage late night in the olden time.
