You are right of course. Sometimes between Orangeburg, SC and Charlotte I get WSM out of Nashville loud and clear.
As a kid I would get the Chicago station at night very good.
That was in E. Tennessee. They used to boost the wattage late night in the olden time.
I used to get WLS Chicago, WOWO Ft. Wayne, Indiana and occasionally a Detroit station on a cheap AM radio where I lived in Baltimore, usually at night when the skies were clear. Loved it.
