This is the perfect time for the conservatives to say: ‘OK, no agreement so in order to pay bills we freeze all money to the department of education all grants to universities, all funds to the FBI, CIA and DOJ.”

“see ya around.”

The Democrats have a history of “trying” things to see what sticks and what doesn’t and it coming around to bite them in the ass, who can forget Harry Reid changing the 60-vote rule for Federal Judges except the Supreme Court, which then opened it up for McConnell to change the rule for the Supreme Court, allowing Trump to get 3 picks which ultimately led to Roe v. Wade getting overturned.

Today, Sunday am on TV Yellen said that we could survive... but we would have to makde hard choices. How hard those choices are is in the eye of the beholder. House GOP has already made those “hard choices”.

Those choices are only “hard” politicallly, not economically or logically. Most money already appropriated has not been spent yet. Much Covid appropriated money has not yet been spent. Much social service money earmarked for social service agencies has not yet been awarded to them. The same with construction projects and IRS hires.

All that needs to happen is for Biden to not spend money already appropriated.

<>You are correct: the badly worded 14th is a time bomb in the constitution.<>

My gosh you are ignorant.

The Framers of the 14th were explicit.

It is right here in this 46 year-old reference: Government by Judiciary - The Transformation of the 14th Amendment by Raoul Berger 1977.

Pence might be lying low, waiting for Biden to get tossed and then becoming President because Commie-LA is not an natural born citizen. Commie-LA was born a US citizen.

Natural born was defined by a 1730 British law still in full effect throughout the 13 colonies on July 3, 1776. That law required the father of the child to be natural born. Such as requirement probably has to be limited to a few (two?) generations in a nation based on immigration because the US doesn’t date back to before Caesar.

By constitutional intent to secure inherent loyalty, it might mean that Kamala had to be born with only US citizenship.

The Supreme Court will probably someday be the decider.

Hello, Citicorp. The debt I owe you is valid, right?

Right!

I’m so happy that you agree. Now up my credit limit, I have a payment due June 2.

No.

Nonsense, I simply have to have more of your money to pay you.

That may be so, but you are not getting a limit bump up.

When you get money, pay us. If you don’t, then we’ll get a court order to that effect.

That falls into the general category for sure.

The Democrats put up Obama, and they may put up Harris. Our side mumbled about Natural Born Citizen, and the clear intent of the founders. But nothing really happens. The Democrats tee up a situation that we COULD push to the Supreme Court. But we don’t. The Democrats get away with it. They do this a lot.

Meanwhile, to return to the Jan 6 example, we had a situation where Pence COULD have demanded an additional layer of State verification. But, well, you know, the Constitution, and, but, I just, you see, we might lose that case, and so, well, maybe it’s best that we don’t push too hard.

No one wins the game that way.

Treasuries are sold at auction.

If there are few bidders, most debt would go unsold.

The Republicans in the House might refuse to retroactively authorize Biden debt. And some of the leftist ‘rats may decide to screw the Biden debt buyers too. Some leftist ‘rats hate Biden and they generally hate financiers too.

If the Biden debt is sold at too steep a discount, it may be repudiated by Congress generally.

“Well, back to the trillion dollar coin!”

$1 trillion in face value - $0 in legal value

Article I SECTION 8

The Congress shall have power...To coin money, regulate the value thereof....”

Congress never assigned a value to the coin, so it would have no legal value under American law.

If the GOP never calls the Dem’s bluff we will still take it in the shorts. Maybe just maybe the Dems will overplay their hand and we can start decorating lamp posts.

EVERY Dem is the enemy. Time to send them to Hell!

I think you are right.

It’s a low risk action. They will say that it is unthinkable and even unconstitutional, not to pay ongoing expenses of the federal government. The media will be behind them. Everyone who gets any payment for anything, from the federal government, will be relieved that their payments are uninterrupted.

And in court, if the Supreme Court shot it down, we would just be back where we are now.

It’s truly a no lose situation for the Dems. to try to say the 14th amendment allows unfettered spending.

I'll take the opposite view.

It won't go directly to the Supreme Court.

Republicans will go to a friendly appellate circuit court for an injunction to block Biden until the case can be heard, just like with DACA and other executive branch separation of powers overreach cases.

The lower court will rule in the House's favor based on precedent, preventing Biden from raising the debt limit unilaterally. This will force Democrats to rush through the House's bill that was already passed.

On the GOP's side is yesterday's poll showing a majority of people agree with spending cuts tied to raising the debt limit. This will pressure Biden to agree to a token compromise with the House in order to get the bill passed in the Senate.

After Biden signs the bill, the LAAP-dog media can fight over who benefited the most.

“It is no such thing.”

So you don’t think a Dem could take the words and convince the American people to throw out the rest of the constitution?

How can you say that when 70 years of examples prove otherwise?
