ST. LOUIS — Anheuser-Busch is now telling retail customers that a recent controversy is just a tempest in a pint glass.
In a letter to wholesalers that was forwarded to some local bars and restaurants, the brewery addressed the backlash to a marketing campaign featuring transgender social-media influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which led to a steep decline in Bud Light sales over the last month.
“This was one single can given to one social media influencer,” the letter states. “It was not made for production or sale to the general public. This can is not a formal campaign or advertisement.”
Mulvaney, 26, posted a video on TikTok showing a can of Bud Light with her face on it that was given to her to celebrate her 365th day of girlhood. The video also showed her sipping a beer as part of March Madness, and she joked that she did not know which sport she was promoting.
A-B’s letter was forwarded to retailers, bars and restaurants by Grey Eagle, a Fenton-based company that distributes Anheuser-Busch products to a 14-county region around St. Louis. Grey Eagle does not distribute to the city of St. Louis, Jefferson County and parts of Washington and Iron counties.
Grey Eagle included a cover letter. “Anheuser-Busch did not intend to create controversy or make a political statement,” it said.
“In reality, the Bud Light can posted by a social media influencer that sparked all the conversation was provided by an outside agency without Anheuser-Busch management awareness or approval,” Grey Eagle continued in its letter. “Since that time, the lack of oversight and control over marketing decisions has been addressed and a new VP of Bud Light marketing has been announced.”

As long as they’re talking about a tempest in a tea cup now would be a great time for this huge corporation to let me know where they stand on child grooming and mutilation in no uncertain terms.
WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH, they don’t think we are smart enough to see through the lies! Fox ratings dropping like a stone the more they TRY to destroy Tucker’s character bottom line is WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!! Absolutely NOTHING these bastards do can repair the damage WE ARE DONE and this is the ONLY way we have to fight back!! We have MORE CHOICES in media and beer SCREW THEM!!
She said nothing she wasn’t parroting from the current administration and Blackrock who happens to run the commerce side of things at the Beltway Hilton.
That was one expensive can...
Does it matter whether they approved the ad?
Hey, A.B. Inbev: There is this thing called a focus group where you get people from across the spectrum to review your ad strategy before you go public to, oh I don’t know, not piss off your consumers. It’s not about the cans or even Mulvaney per se, it’s about the message you’re projecting. You done messed up and better just admit it or I guess just keep digging that hole deeper.
The beer is terrible anyway, so why should people start drinking it again?
The groveling is not working. Just cut out the woke crap permanently! Insane transnazis will yell and scream. Ignore them and think of the sane people who know that sex is determined at conception and is binary.
That's how Republicans "solve" this problem.
They got fat off of Covid. Telling people what to do, how to behave, when they could do whatever, and forcing compliance to everything they proclaimed. ABI thought they could extend that to all their customers. They stepped into their customers’ >5pm routine. Sorry girls, it doesn’t work like that.
A woman pretending to be a man
hires a man pretending to be a girl
to promote a drink pretending to be a beer
Yeah, that sounds legit. I'm sure that's what happened. If it is true, then the entirety of "Anheuser-Busch management" should be fired.
And the 2 pervs responsible still work there. BUT now AB is blaming it on a outside agency?!?!
They’re lying. He had more than one can.
L
I was at a bar last week on Thursday. My wife said I’ll take a coors and said - at least it’s not bud light and I said yeah, bummer about a lot of beers now. The bartender stated it really didn’t matter because everything on tap was either owned or distributed by AB inbev. He claimed to work for AB inbev as his main job and stated the controversy is kind of silly because most people don’t realize how big AB inbev is and their global reach (9/10 beers are owned by or at a bare minimum distriburted by AB inbev). On top of that there were other social media influencers that also got promo cans like post malone and numerous other celebs as there was a run of 40 cans made with people’s faces on them and sent as a way to market / outreach to all of these “influencers’” followers.
Bottom line, this was bad timing/decision making on the mulvaney can, but what about all the others you haven’t heard about or seen?
I don’t like bud light, and a boycott to trash a brand that offends is as legit as any other, but in the end AB inbev has plenty of market share to weather this and many other storms and people are likely unwittingly still buying many products that AB inbev is making bank on.
I suppose people could go to local microbreweries and get their beer, but that really isn’t practical for a good deal of people either.
I don’t intentionally drink AB stuff, but I did not know that coors was also distributed by their parent company.
AB still refuses to apologize. They won’t get my business back.
Screw ‘em.
Does all that it takes to turn someone trans, one beer? I glad I don’t drink AB products.
None.
Their attempt to claim they have less of a problem, or nothing at all, because they only made one can featuring their relationship with Mulvaney is ridiculous.
How could it be possible that A-B had nuttin’ to do with it, yet did not disavow all association with Dylan Mulvaney right away?
Did they directly or indirectly pay the transexual dude to be their “influencer” or did they not?
Did they send “one single can” to Mulvaney or not? How was this done without the company’s knowledge, but they forgot to mention that?
If what they are now claiming is true, they are the most incompetent people in history.
Yeah, but if no one buys Bud Light ever again, they’ll thankfully stop making it. Inbev isn’t going out of business.
Love your passion, FRiend!
Fighting back is all we have now. We are FED UP!
