With all due respect the State can’t arrest a person for being illegal, unless they have committed another crime. Texas Operation Lonestar, with TX DPS has arrested many thousands of illegas for breaking other laws.
For suspected 1st time offenders of breaking immigration law, the State can call ICE. The federal government is not doing their job of arrest and deportation but the Statesare not allowed to do so.
And the ones being let go and told to report later are processed by Border Patrol, not State.
Would it make you happy if the Federal government just arrested Governor Abbott? I bet that would make Mayorkas day too.
We all want Blame but it is on ,,,the Biden Regime!
States are limited ...That's why We Saw how President Trump made it possible in such a short while to put forth his stop to the invasion on the border!

Oh it’s ok, I watch them get detained and sent back to Mexico in the old days, whether it is a called a crime or not I do not know, but if they are being detained and sent back it sure seems like it to me. But whatever.

#BREAKING A man reportedly just showed up to the Ozanam Center with a pistol and tried to get through the gate.
Everyone was ushered inside the center.
Migrants say the man was driving a dark blue or black car and was pointing his gun at them.
No one was in custody when we left.
We are working to get more information.

Hi Ali. We just got confirmation from @bpd_pio that there’s a person in custody and that they found marijuana on his possession and was arrested, but no gun was located. Police are actively searching for a gun two blocks away from the migrant center.
Whether it was your intention or not you did upset me. This is how evil wins, getting us to turn on each other and turning on the few people that are doing something. But please don’t leave on my account.
Gov. Greg Abbott says Biden in cahoots with cartels, White House says Texas border force adds chaos
He accused President Joe Biden of “collaboration” with smuggling cartels and said Texas is being “undermined” and “overrun by our own federal government.”
The White House took a dim view of the deployment, which came without a heads-up, and of the governor’s rhetoric that included describing the situation as a “Biden-made crisis.”
“There’s a way to handle those types of announcements and the governor knows this,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “That’s by coordinating with federal authorities, something that he refuses to do.”
The new Texas unit is tasked with intercepting, repelling and turning back migrants at border “hot spots,” Abbott said over the din of military aircraft.
He boasted that no state has ever done more to defend its international border, touting Operation Lone Star, a multibillion-dollar effort using the National Guard and state public safety officers.
“This is just about political theater for him. This is not really dealing with this issue. It’s about creating more chaos. It’s about creating more confusion at the border,” Jean-Pierre said.
Texas has used a trespassing misdemeanor to arrest unauthorized immigrants.
Abbott also resumed inspections of commercial trucks last Tuesday, though the dragnet had already loosened by Monday after causing delays up to 26 hours into Brownsville. Abbott employed the tactic in April 2022 and again last summer, bringing attention to his complaints about federal failures at the border while also sparking complaints about lost trade.
Seems like political theater cuz , according to Michael Yon, the one reporting on the Darian Gap disaster, Abbot wasn’t really doing much even though he called out the national guard a year ago. According to Yon, Abbot is a WEF grad, ain’t that weird. Is it all for show? I don’t know, but it seems like it to me. Now even Katie Hobbs is complaining, probably because she isn’t getting money from the feds to take care of the huge influx. What a mess!
Well, I guess that makes a NY Times “journalist” factually correct for once in about 110 years.
