$1000 is 10,000 dimes. Divide by 10 and we have 1000 ounces. 1000/16 = 62.5 pounds.

The bigger question.....what was someone doing with 2 million dimes?
Trying to take them out of circulation?

If there is a dime slot machine in some casino, the mob will launder the money.

What do you do with five tons of dimes?
“All U.S. dimes minted since 1965 weigh 2.268 grams (0.080 ounces). U.S. dimes have a diameter of 17.91 mm, a thickness of 1.35 mm, and are composed of a metallic “clad sandwich” of copper (91.67%) and nickel (8.33%).”

That’s a lot of “dime bags” even for Philadelphia

This has inside job written all over it. Beginning with the driver, and then his buddies....which would then point right back to him.

It’s hard to believe that the usual practices to pick up all that cash, drive home and get some sleep, then hit the road.
And then is the driver supposed to drive all alone to Florida from Philadelphia? With $200,000 worth of money in his truck?
It’s hard to believe that there are not greater controls on handling of money like this. We can all laugh about how these are dimes, but it adds up to a considerable sum of money.
To: DUMBGRUNT
There’s not a dime’s bit of difference between this and a real bank robbery.
To: Jane Long
the truck driver picked up the dimes from the Philadelphia Mint on Wednesday but then went home to get some sleep before a long drive to Florida
Philadelphia Mint makes the new dimes.
Theft of government property ✔️
Interstate shipment ✔️
Local police, not FBI or Treasury Department investigating ⁉️

I remember this put-down... “Here’s a dime. Call someone who cares.”
Now you can call 2 million people who care.

According to the interweb, a US dime is 0.08 oz.
2 million dimes = 10,000 lbs of dimes
