You are right. It was never the same. I believe that was when they replaced cane sugar with corn syrup. You can still get original cane sugar coke from Mexico, and some stores carry a special Passover coke which can be identified by its yellow cap (not kidding). I have not found that nearby, but the Mexican Coke is available at most major grocery stores.

As long as it’s a private company without subsidies, simple economics dictates that a company cannot continue to mass produce a product for which there is very little demand.

The problem is that most of us (but not me) have very short memories when it comes to boycotts. We hem and haw for a couple of weeks, feel really good about ourselves for fighting the good fight and then quickly go back to life as usual. See the NFL, which is more popular then ever.
