Missouri Senator Josh Hawley says that the feds should be investigating the Covenant school shooting as a 'hate crime' against Christians.
The Republican reiterated Police Chief John Drake's statements that trans shooter Audrey Hale, 28, 'targeted' the Nashville school. In total, three students and three staffers were killed.
'Targeting victims on the basis of religious affiliation is a hate crime. It should be investigated as such,' Hawley tweeted.
The conservative later added that he would be introducing legislation on the floor of the Senate condemning Monday's attack as a hate crime. 'We must speak out and condemn the hate that leads to violence,' Hawley said.
Hate crime charges would require proving that the gunman was motivated by bias, such as against the victims’ religion or beliefs.
'All federal resources necessary should be brought to bear. And those individuals or groups who have spread a message of hate against the Christian community - which resulted here in horrific violence - should be held to account,' Hawley also tweeted.
Right-wing activist Dinesh D'Souza echoed Hawley's statements, asking: 'Is it fair to call the Nashville Covenant School mass shooting a hate crime perpetrated by a transgender domestic terrorist against Christians? If not, why not?'
While one of Donald Trump's legal team, Jenna Ellis, tweeted: 'Will the Left condemn this as a hate crime against Christians?'
The shooting did lead President Joe Biden to call again on lawmakers for stronger gun safety laws.

The shooter is dead. Unless the FIBies are pursuing the Trans Day of Violence people (and that is highly unlikely), this does nothing.

Her “mother” is just as responsible for this as He She Bar without nuts was. The families need to sue the hell out of the mother the way they sue the NRA, gun manufacturers and ammo manufacturers.
I suspect her manifesto may indicate the murders were revenge for TN laws regulating trans nonsense. If so, it’s a clear case of domestic terrorism. Hale may be a member of a broader radical trans group. Not exactly the narrative the Cathedral wants at this point.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument
One problem with our messed up constitutional republic is this. As a consequence of probably not really knowing the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, although his intentions are undoubtedly good, Sen. Hawley is unthinkingly unconstitutionally expanding the powers of the already unconstitutionally big federal government imo.
More specifically, post-17th Amendment ratification Sen. Hawley needs to uphold the Constitution that he swore to protect and defend by waiting for popularly elected state leaders to request federal assistance in dealing with this tragedy — if the state decides that it needs assistance.
"Article IV, Section 4 (4.4): The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence [emphases added]."

Note that Justice Joseph Story had clarified that one of the main reasons that the drafters of the Constitution made 4.4 was to help prevent the untrusted feds from dreaming up excuses to stick their big noses (my words) into the affairs of the sovereign states.
”§ 1819. It may not be amiss further to observe, (in the language of another commentator,) that every pretext for intermeddling with the domestic concerns of any state, under colour of protecting it against domestic violence, is taken away by that part of the provision, which renders an application from the legislature, or executive authority of the state endangered necessary to be made to the general government, before its interference can be at all proper [emphasis added]. On the other hand, this article becomes an immense acquisition of strength, and additional force to the aid of any state government, in case of an internal rebellion, or insurrection against its authority. The southern states, being more peculiarly open to danger from this quarter, ought (he adds) to be particularly tenacious of a constitution, from which they may derive such assistance in the most critical periods.” —Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, Article 4, Section 4.
So the color of the day, as Story might have put it, in other words today's excuse for the feds to stick their noses into state affairs is "hate crime" against Christians.
After all, although state leaders may have already requested federal assistance for this incident, given the relatively small scale of this tragedy, what "magic wand" do the feds have to clean up this mess that a given state cannot provide, particularly since the states have never expressly constitutional given the unconstitutionally big feds the specific power to make peacetime restrictive gun laws?
It also doesn't help when constitutionally clueless state and local government authorities think that they need to wait and see what the big, bad constitutionally limited power feds do in his and other situations before implementing ways to help prevent problems, such the tragedy looked at by this thread.
In fact, Justice Louis Brandeis had introduced his "laboratories of democracy" metaphor to emphasize the 10th Amendment powers of the states to serve their respective people, depending on what the legal majority citizen voters of a given state want.

For example, consider when state and local authorities delay preventative measures, or other policies, possibly because of the threat of loss of so-called federal funding which is arguably state revenues that the feds stole from the states by means of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

Why does it seem that people out there assume that if you are white, then you are a Christian? I highly doubt that any of those serial killers were Christians.
Hard to say, for Muslims they are used to Islam practically being the law so they think everyone in their country is Muslim, Catholics are sort of like that, or used to be, they would baptize infants and think that everyone was a Catholic, and Jews think like that also, you are born Jewish.
It is amazing that the people of the world know so little about actual Christianity that they think the place of birth or race makes one a Christian.
Here is a question, why do liberals assume someone with American Indian blood practices some Indian religion instead of being a Baptist, Catholic, Buddhist, or Lutheran, atheist or whatever?
