An employee at a Family Dollar in Arizona was arrested for fatally shooting a shoplifter who slugged him in the face when the worker asked him to leave, reports said.
The employee, Kevin Salas Madrid, encountered the alleged serial shoplifter inside the Phoenix store near 68th Avenue and Indian School Road just before 8 p.m. Wednesday and warned the suspect to stop stealing and exit the dollar store, according to KTVK/KPHO.
The pair then began arguing when the shoplifter punched Madrid in the face, at which point the store worker pulled a gun and opened fire, the outlet reported. He allegedly shot the suspect 10 times and continued to unleash bullets even as the man was on the floor, FOX 10 Phoenix reported.

Well, for how many of those shots was he still standing, with his arms working? If it took ten shots to get him to stop, that's what it took.
What does it matter?
You have no legal demand to pause after every shot to see if your self-defense measures have succeeded, yet.
The only good argument against a mag dump might be the cost of ammo.
There is a mantra out thisaway in CaCaLand: “You are putting me in fear of my life.....bang, bang, etc.”
Getting hit in the face should be interpreted as first blow of many. To disorient and possibly knock you down. Once down you expect to be kicked until a rib goes thru the liver or a lung.
Fire away until the trash can no longer threaten you. Not until he won’t get up. No. Until you are sure, in your disoriented state, that he CANNOT get up and further threaten your life.
Ten shots, tho? Yeah, you need some range time.
Deserve a medal...
The proper way to reduce taxpayer costs for processing and incarcerating criminals...
Exhibit A:
Senator John Fetterman (D-PA).
Got to be sure he is staying down.
“Guilty” of nine counts of mutilating a corpse.
Assaulting someone during the commission of a crime doesn’t deserve applause. Anyone assaulted during a crime should assume the criminal is more than willing to proceed to murder. So not guilty. You’re either foolish, a criminal or a lawyer but I’m being redundant.

Until we bag it for you it’s marked NOT YOURS
I disagree. People are killed by a single punch.
Either the punch in and of itself, or falling back and hitting our heads.
If I am on that jury the shooter walks. And I am not a trigger happy person.
“I was in fear for my life....”
“It’s comin’ right for us!”
Did he do something wrong?
He sure did. No ear protection, no eye protection, and he didn’t police up his brass.
You can get 16 shots with a glock
I watched the trial of the young truck driver that was involved in an accident that killed a bunch of motorcyclists (7?) up in Massachusetts I think. He had taken some drugs in the morning as a “pick me up” but they were out of his system at the time of the accident that evening. (It was proven that the lead motorcycle was in the truck’s lane and started the crash).
Anyway - at the end of the truck-drivers questioning the detective said something like “I bet you wish you had never got on the road today.” The guy (young guy - 23?) said something like “Boy - you got that right.”
The prosecutor tried to turn that into an admission of guilt.
The defense attorney was great though.
“So Detective Jones, you finally got your confession after 6 hours of questioning and him repeatedly saying that he was not under the influence, and the drug tests confirmed that. How many times did he tell you that he was not impaired before you got what you considered the ‘gotcha’ moment?”
“I don’t recall how many times.”
“But he did tell you - correct? Was it several times? Some? many times?”
“Yes he told me, but I don’t recall how many times.”
“Well, if you had listened to the interview again you would have counted 28 times.”
The lawyer then lists the times and the various statements by the driver. And ends with something like “And his statement that he had wished he had never been out on the road that day - don’t you think that would be anyone’s wish after being involved in such a horrific crash?”
Above is the first article after a search with “elderly man killed with one punch”. (Many people would consider me “elderly”) But even young people can be killed with one punch.
The search came back with 94 million responses.
