Popular celebrity weight-loss drugs Wegovy and Ozempic could have serious side effects, according to researchers in China.

In a study set to appear in the monthly journal Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B, researchers believe that there is an “increased risk” of intestinal obstruction when taking those medications.

The drugs are made up of the peptide semaglutide, a derivative of GLP-1, a hormone derived from the small intestine.

Don't trust this! It's part of a communist plot to demoralize Americans by making all of our celebrities fat!

I'd like to thank (actually bitch-slap) Kim Kardashian and her ilk for making Ozempic so hard to get. They don't need it. There are a great many people who do and they can't get it because all of these H-wood aholes are using it just for weight loss. Same goes for the "doctors" who are prescribing it for same.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, and there’s no such thing as a miracle weight loss drug either.

“Wegovy and Ozempic”

They were GREAT in the 60s with that string of #1 hits. I personally thought they were bigger than “Simon and Garfunkel.”

Ozempic and Wegovy are identical. Ozempic was developed to treat diabetes and is frequently prescribed for diabetics at the world's top medical centers. I've been taking it for a couple of years...prescribed by one of Harvard Medical School's major teaching hospitals.

It's only recently that it became a "weight loss" drug because weight loss is one of its side effects.

IMO any medical advice coming from China is absolute bullbleep. When my doctors stop prescribing it for me I might believe that it's harmful...but not before.

Silly me I thought you all liked “off label” uses such as ivermectin “off label” for COVID. So it’s just that you only believe in “off label” so long as you think it’s ok. Other “doctors” prescribed drugs you approve of the same way.

The hypocrisy is palpable.

I think you are missing the point. This is not to say people should stop taking it for diabetes.

There is a better similar class drug for weight loss than these two. It looks kkke it may be approved as weight loss drug.

Who is 'you all'? I've never used ivermectin. I have better ways to deal with my health.

The advertising only states "you may lose weight" so why would a doctor prescribe a diabetes drug to someone who doesn't have diabetes but simply wants an easy way to lose weight? Doesn't that strike you as somewhat irresponsible?

But why does anyone need a drug to lose weight? Diet and exercise aren’t enough? It doesn’t make sense to me.

Serious question. I weigh 114 and don’t have a clue.

One does not. But some people do. The advertising simply states, "It may help you lose weight." So some people who do not have diabetes have latched on to this and have gotten 'scripts from their doctors. Who, in my opinion, should not be prescribing it just for that possibility. Others may hold another opinion, but that's mine.
