The Napoleon complex has been scientifically proven.
New research published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences suggests that people who are relatively short and unhappy about it may engage in antagonistic behaviors in an attempt to offset their height disadvantage.
The researchers used Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, a crowd-sourcing site, to recruit 367 adults, a mix of men and women from the US, for the study.
The participants were asked to complete the Dirty Dozen Dark Triad questionnaire, which is designed to assess levels of psychopathy, narcissism and Machiavellianism — a personality trait defined as being manipulative, cynical and lacking in morality.
They were then asked to list their height and divulge if they were satisfied with their height or wished they were taller

Short women can be very difficult to work with.
I’m talking about 75-85 y.o.
can be royal pains in the arse.
They are too small to fit in a car. Too short for shopping carts, sitting at a table... royal pains.
Pm
I am not bitter. In fact, I’m delighted to be a short person. Ever since I got into the business of designing airliner seats, that is...
Beware of geeks who wear lifts!
Should of used the big picture.
“Ever see a shorter lead character”.
Game of Thrones?
“I plead guilty to height supremacy”.
So do I, but there’s this back-pain thing!
I’m 6’ 2” and I’m satisfied with my height. Any taller and life would be even more difficult when it comes to flying. As it is, I can’t fit into a Corvette or Miata. I was at the Subaru dealer the other day and I couldn’t even get in the BRZ they had on the floor. And I fit just fine in my Forester. But for real comfort and spaciousness, I like my Silverado.
And then there is the looming doofus syndrome. Extra tall guys using size to bully and push on people.
Spiteful mutants.
Extra tall guys using size to bully and push on people.
Someone has to keep the fighter pilots in check.
Yep, no taking pride in such things at crawling under pipes and into narrow spaces where big people can’t go to fix things. Just be a big (heh) meanie instead!
HA!!
Tall guys are assholes too but back in my drinking days I was sitting at a bar working my way toward oblivion. I’m 6’2” and I eventually struck up a friendly conversation with the guy next to me. He seemed okay but I was in no shape for fine judgement.
At one point I needed to return the beer I had been renting and made my way toward the mens’room. As I was returning my new friend was heading in and I noticed I was about a foot taller than he.
When he got back he seemed a bit angry so I asked why and his answer is something I can still hear today.
“Short guys HATE, HATE, HATE big guys.”
Of course he was drunk and I’ve never heard anyone else say that but it did seem convincing.
Yep. Had a boss whose height and build was used to intimidate those who reported to him. Former MP in the military; guess he couldn’t shake threatening to toss the “little people” around (rolling eyes, in your face, yelling, demotions, bad reviews, probation status, etc.) after his service. Total jerk.
Napoleon wasn't short. He was about 5'7", actually a smidge taller than the average adult European man of the era.
The reason (the historically ignorant) think he was short is because François Carlo Antommarchi, Boney's personal physician, recorded his height as 5'2". Except that Antommarchi made that measurement using the obsolete pied du roi (French for "the foot of the king", sometimes called the "French foot"), which is just a hair more than 12 and three quarters inches in modern money. And 5'2" in French feet comes to 5'7" in modern British Imperial units.
Well im short.
That being said, everyone I’ve ever met my size or shorter WAS bat crap crazy.
We had a guy in boot who seemed to invite blanketparties with glee.
Didn’t even phase him.
I saw him about a year later, said he went AWOL cuz he was told by the polar pig captain to make his bunk and he told him to make it himself then deserted.
I believed him.
It’s length and not height that is really important. Girth matters also.
