Japanese culture is one that demonstrates great respect for the elderly, so for Narita to even suggest something as ghastly as sacrificing those who are older is blasphemy
Narita’s research centers around the design of decision-making algorithms in policy and business, with a particular interest in education policy. However, in December of 2021 he made his first caustic comments during an interview stating:
“I feel like the only solution is pretty clear, in the end, isn’t it mass suicide and mass ‘seppuku’ of the elderly?”
Seppuku is an honorable death or ritualistic suicide by disembowelment that can only be conducted by a samurai. Hara-kiri means stomach-cutting in Japanese where the word hara refers to stomach and kiri refers to cutting. Hara-kiri and seppuku mean exactly the same thing in Japanese, but Japanese people almost never use the word hara-kiri and prefer the word seppuku instead. hara-kiri refers to the action of cutting the stomach, while seppuku represents the ritual and the traditional procedure of cutting the stomach.
What’s especially upsetting about Narita’s comments are twofold. First the Japanese culture is one that demonstrates great respect for the elderly, so for Narita to even suggest something as ghastly as sacrificing those who are older is blasphemy. Second, this has nothing to do with the subject that he is being paid to teach. Caring for the elderly of society is not a burden as Narita believes, it’s a sacred obligation to protect those that built the economy that Narita exists in. Yale should not allow him to remain on staff where he can poison additional minds…

I think that over time, the concept has become muddled as politicians couldn’t resist adding payments out for those who either never paid in or paid only a tiny amount in compared to their now lifetime track of collecting those payments. Would those be farmers, in the beginning, kidney dialysis patients, minimum SS disability payments, indigent foreigners here? etc. That combined with people living much longer is where we are today.
You do not understand SS. On the front end its nothing but a tax, on the back end its nothing but an entitlement and unfunded liability.
In the budget-speak, there is not much difference between SS and welfare.
Dont shoot the messenger.

People are an existential threat
“Not even waiting until AI takes over and does everything sensibly.”
Twilight Zone episode,
‘The Old Man in the Cave’.
Soon only the very wealthy elderly will have access to medical care.
Bill Buckner jumped in front of a bus once.
It went right between his legs!
What do professors produce more than elderly?
Not to mention, many of us who were thrifty, scrimped and saved to have a decent retirement are still being penalized by having to pay high income taxes, along with skyrocketing property taxes.
😂
“This Yale leftist should lead by example!”
My first thought as well.
I suggest Yale professors be released into the wild and elderly people get to hunt, shoot and kill them.
Rather than merely exist in the grip of a lifetime of having no enemies, but being intensely disliked by their friends, and being too clever that they themselves do not understand even a single word of what they are saying, Yale professors should exercise the best option and partake of the existential extinguishment of themselves.
How old is he?
The happiest day of the century for government planners will be the day the last Baby Boomer dies. By whatever means.
