Abstract
Whole body gestational donation offers an alternative means of gestation for prospective parents who wish to have children but cannot, or prefer not to, gestate. It seems plausible that some people would be prepared to consider donating their whole bodies for gestational purposes just as some people donate parts of their bodies for organ donation. We already know that pregnancies can be successfully carried to term in brain-dead women. There is no obvious medical reason why initiating such pregnancies would not be possible. In this paper, I explore the ethics of whole-body gestational donation. I consider a number of potential counter-arguments, including the fact that such donations are not life-saving and that they may reify the female reproductive body. I suggest if we are happy to accept organ donation in general, the issues raised by whole-body gestational donation are differences of degree rather than substantive new concerns. In addition, I identify some intriguing possibilities, including the use of male bodies–perhaps thereby circumventing some potential feminist objections.

Interesting thought, but the cast of The View are all too old.
Possible (sick) ping of interest
Axlotl tanks are IN!!
That’s sickening.
Wow. Turns my stomach.
Where is that time machine??!!!!
Why is it that “bioethicists” are invariably the ones who come up with the most grisly and inhuman ideas.
Brave New World
“Bioethicist proposes using brain dead women as surrogates”
For the first time, single women with liberal arts degrees will be doing something useful.
So gross. I actually just shiver shrugged at the grossness.
If this is allowed (legal), the next logical step is use them in brothels for a profit motive. Generally, a womans body is her own, and “NO” means no, but if we’re crossing that boundary then there’s little limit to what they can do.
Shouldn't laugh but I did.
Great Frank and Ernest comic strip:
Frank: (looking at card) Oh, no, I really hate this birthday.
Ernest: This is the one where all my organ donations have passed the "Best When Used By" dates.
Ethics aside, the author is overstating the science. Yes, brain dead pregnant women have been kept alive long enough to deliver the fetus. Most of the real life examples are third trimester or were women in comas, not brain dead.
That is not the same as doing IVF and completing an entire 40 weeks in a brain dead woman.
Practically, the demand for the organs of the brain dead will always be far greater than the demand for surrogacy.
Years ago I wrote a story along these lines and it was turned into an episode of Special Victim’s Unit. Sadly, this is what medical ethics has degenerated to.
I don’t know why they wouldn’t just use trans men or women or what ever they call themselves!
Battlestar Galactica 2 had a shocking episode based on this premise back in 2005 or so.
Seems like it would cost a fortune to keep the body and baby alive for 9 months. This has a high cringe factor too.
It’s ghoulish. Like a twilight zone show.
Can you imagine? The parents visiting their child as it grows inside the woman?
Attending the birth?
And then what, kill the brain dead woman or use her again?
I read that med students were doing pelvic exams on women while they were anesthetized for other surgeries.
A doc on Twitter last year.
It’s all just sickening. Our culture has become a horror flick.
No wonder we have kids killing and raping.
Damn Ben, good shot.
