In a hypothetical presidential matchup, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis would garner more support against President Joe Biden than former President Donald Trump would, a new poll from Marquette University finds.
Forty-five percent of registered voters preferred DeSantis, versus 38% of registered voters who preferred Biden in a hypothetical matchup between the two.
In a hypothetical contest between Biden and Trump, the two were even, each gaining 40% of registered voters' preference.
Just among Republican voters and independents who lean Republican, DeSantis had a slightly higher favorability rating. Seventy-one percent of those voters said they have a favorable view of DeSantis, while 70% said they had a favorable view of Trump.
Among that same group of voters, ten percent said they had an unfavorable view of DeSantis while 28% had an unfavorable view of Trump.
Republican voters and Republican-leaning independent voters also preferred DeSantis as the eventual Republican presidential nominee over Trump by 28 percentage points, as 64% of this group of voters preferred DeSantis as the nominee, compared to 36% who said they preferred Trump to be the nominee.

NBC. Need I say more?
“In fact, it appears that Trump, a former GOP president and, as of now, the only candidate in the race, has plateaued at 48% in the polls where he is winning.”
That is a joke, about as much as you claim you voted for Trump and sent in money. It would take person with a mind loose at both ends to spew the venom that you do at Trump and reverse course.
Its funny how the DeSantis supporters have mostly said they would vote for Trump if he managed to survive the primary but the Trump supporters here are largely saying they are going to have a tantrum and give the election to the Democrats if their god isn’t given the Republican nomination automatically which he owns for some reason.
He’s not running!
I wish this kind of polling would stop. DeSantis hasn’t declared a desire to run for President, so all this does is sow division and needless speculation. Just stop!
The real news here, is how gleeful the MSM is to depict
DeSantis leading Trump. Did they ever hawk Trump leading
candidates they favored? Were they ever honest about
Trump? Did they ever give him a fair shake?
In seven years, I never saw that.
This news outlet ran five years worth of charges of
racism, misogyny, criminal activity, and depicting
Trump as a treasonous bastard, but don’t let yourself
doubt they are being above board and honest there.
Polls come out and show Trump leading, and then the MSM
coughs up this fur ball, and some folks jump up and down
for joy, not grasping the dynamics in play.
The NYT does not want DeSantis. They don’t want Trump,
and until they “GET HIM”, they’ll continue with this
propaganda, and then send in the lairs and traitors to
character assassinate DeSantis
non stop.
“...the Trump supporters here are largely saying they are going to have a tantrum and give the election to the Democrats...”
That is total BULLSH*T and you know it....
Drew 68—are you one of those “influencers” DeSantis has been paying to promote himself?
Nope. Iโm doing it for free.

You’ll find this line of thinking a lot here. We’re no longer conservatives we’re trump groupies and if we have to sacrifice the former for the latter then so be it.
Sure, Jan.
Trump is solidly in second place, ahead of everyone but DeSantis. Well positioned to take the lead later.

I find DeSantis a bit stiff and slightly strange. Trump will turn him into a little Bushy in a single debate.
I wouldn't be surprised.
Of course, he won't do much winning without the "conservative" portion of the conservative-Republican coalition.
I myself am checking out of any future relationship with The Backstab Party, and will write in Trump in 2024 if I have to.
If we could get Trump for president and Desantis as VP we would have a winning team and then Desantis for President in 28 America would be in a really good place.

Yeah, it's probably an outlier but I'm looking at trends. And right now, things are trending for Ron DeSantis.
Sure, Trump enjoyed a little bump after Biden got hemmed up in a classified documents scandal of his own making it much less likely that Trump will find himself criminally indicted. But that bump seems to have settled.
In the polls where Trump leads (which is most of them) those leads have closed considerably. Gone are the 30-40 point leads that Trump used to enjoy over DeSantis. They've been replaced by leads in the single digits and teens.
Yet I do believe if the primaries were held today, Trump would be the GOP nominee, and that's a shame because he'd fail to flip a single state he lost in 2020 and the Democrat nominee would trounce him. Even worse, Trump in defeat would take the GOP House down with him while leaving the Senate in the hands of the Democrat.
The only slight chance Trump has at winning is if the Democrats are stupid enough to run Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket. And they're not that stupid.
Fortunately, the primaries aren't today so there's still time to turn this ship around.
You are so right.
It was stolen by the Hugo Chavez / Dominion voting machines that used the Italian satellites .
And people want to ignore the facts.
But youโre totally right.
