In a hypothetical presidential matchup, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis would garner more support against President Joe Biden than former President Donald Trump would, a new poll from Marquette University finds.
Forty-five percent of registered voters preferred DeSantis, versus 38% of registered voters who preferred Biden in a hypothetical matchup between the two.
In a hypothetical contest between Biden and Trump, the two were even, each gaining 40% of registered voters' preference.
Just among Republican voters and independents who lean Republican, DeSantis had a slightly higher favorability rating. Seventy-one percent of those voters said they have a favorable view of DeSantis, while 70% said they had a favorable view of Trump.
Among that same group of voters, ten percent said they had an unfavorable view of DeSantis while 28% had an unfavorable view of Trump.
Republican voters and Republican-leaning independent voters also preferred DeSantis as the eventual Republican presidential nominee over Trump by 28 percentage points, as 64% of this group of voters preferred DeSantis as the nominee, compared to 36% who said they preferred Trump to be the nominee.

Everyone, just as we all know there are a few on this site that will go to their graves fawning over EVs and wanting to prolong the war in Ukraine from the comfort of their living rooms in the US, Drew68 cannot gush enough about Ron DeSantis.
That is Gov DeSantis that is Governor, AG, SOS, County Executive of every county in Florida, runs every dept in Florida, is the judge in every courtroom, is every sheriff and police officer, heavy equipment operator cleaning up after the Hurricane and so many other things.
He’s the guy that, just as Jesus turned water into wine, turned Democrats into Republicans. No need to take into account all the Conservatives that moved into the state. They don’t matter. All that matters is the DeSantis fairy dust that he sprinkled.
But have no fear, DeSantis is the most conservative, For The People Candidate, that MIGHT run. Just ask his early backers: Griffin, Ryan, Boehner, Bush, Shapiro, and all the other RINO/UNIPARTY hacks that abound.

I'm tired of this excuse. Trump did himself no favors during the 2020 election, idiotically telling GOP voters NOT to use mail-in voting and go stand in line during the middle of a pandemic and then idiotically traveling to Georgia during the runoffs and telling GOP voters that their votes don't count, throwing the Senate to the Democrats.
And now the same people are crying that the losses of every one of the lousy candidates he handpicked to run in 2022 were also due to fraud.
You all sound like a broken record.
And when he loses again in 2024, the same people will, once again, blame election fraud while trying to convince the rest of us that Trump is the only man in America who can "Drain the swamp!" in 2028.

You do know that the establishment never voted for Trump or his candidates. Do you think we are stupid? We have watched the RINOS stab us in the back time after time. So, yes, if Trump is not the candidate we fully intend to give the establishment a taste of their own medicine.
