Texas teacher put on leave after physically assaulting a high school student who ended up in the ER and on crutches – father of student demands his teaching license be revoked and arrested after he ‘antagonized’ his son

A Texas English teacher is being investigated after he was filmed beating a student and pinning him violently against a classroom wall.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon at Humble High School, which is located just outside of Houston, and left the 10th grade boy in the emergency room with injuries.

Footage showed the teacher slamming the student to the ground and overturning a table, then holding him against a wall as other students tried to pull them apart.

The teacher was placed on leave, and the boy's father, Elvert Bolden, is demanding he be barred from ever teaching again. Bolden said the 'upsetting' fight started because the teacher thought his son was being too loud.

The shocking clip showed the teacher in a purple sweatshirt grappling the student dressed in black.

The student appeared to be escaping from the teacher, who held him by the arm as the pair toppled over a table and sent chairs flying in the classroom scrum.

BACK IN THE EARLY 60’S MY BEST FRIEND AND I ARE CUTTING CLASS. WE’RE IN THE HALLS, COME AROUND A CORNER, AND IMMEDIATELY SEE A SHOP TEACHER, KOREAN WAR VET, LAY INTO TWO WELL KNOWN PUNKS THE WAY A GROWN MAN, COMBAT VET, FIGHTS. CRUSHED THEM BOTH LITERALLY IN SECONDS OF NO BS VIOLENCE.

THEN HE MARCHED THEM BOTH TO THE PRINCIPLE’S OFFICE AND HAD THEM ARRESTED!

THERE WAS NOT THE FIRST THOUGHT FROM ANYONE THAT HE HAD DONE ANYTHING WRONG.

IN THOSE DAYS THE INSANE WERE MOSTLY CONFINED TO ASYLUMS.

Agreed. And that teacher looks like a big guy. From what I could see in the video, the teacher was grabbing the kid’s clothing. Did not see him throwing any punches.

“Did you notice that the only person being violent was the teacher?”

Did you notice we saw nothing about the start or hear anything said? And the “baby” was almost the size of the teacher.

Those things don’t just “happen”.

“IN THOSE DAYS THE INSANE WERE MOSTLY CONFINED TO ASYLUMS.”

Amen! Why do 29 students struggle to learn? Because student #30 prevents them.

Not likely (Or at least I hope not as one of those taxpayers). School districts in Texas are immune from liability under state law for any personal injury claims other than motor vehicle claims. All they could bring is a federal civil rights suit, but the school is not vicariously liable for the teacher’s conduct under that statute.

"Did you notice we saw nothing about the start or hear anything said?"

The school district has explained what let up to the attack.

The district said the teacher 'used physical force to try and get a student to take a seat and listen.'

the school district has also stated that the teacher's behavior unacceptable and are fully cooperating with law enforcement.

That means the teacher is going to be charged.

I’m not sure it’s honing my prophetic gifting, but I always seem to get the demographics right. A snapshot of months worth of baiting finally causing a teacher to snap. No doubt the teacher goes to school every morning feeling like he’s taking his life in his hands going into a war zone. I’m having trouble mustering sympathy, coming from a family of mostly educators.

[That means the teacher is going to be charged.]

A quote attributed to Voltaire, is ‘If you want to know who controls you, look at who you are not allowed to criticize.’

I would assume that includes kicking their ass, deservedly or otherwise.

When I was in 7th grade (1970ish), my history teacher was a former cop and he stood in the front of the classroom whacking something that looked like a giant ping-pong paddle with a bunch of holes in it against his hand and said “We’re not going to have any trouble in this class, right?”
Guess what, we didn’t have any trouble.

My first grade class at St. Mary’s had 49 kids in it. The nuns kept us in line, there’s wasn’t even an option to screw around.

The only one going to prison is that teacher.

Ten to one the "student" doesn't make it to 25 without a stay in the graybar hotel.

A “school resource officer” should be called

Right. Only "officers" can be trusted to use force ...

My daughter is a grammar Nazi like me so I got her a coffee mug for Christmas with the following: “I before e…except when your foreign neighbor Keith received eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters.” 🤣

While it is possible that at some point in his life, the kid goes to jail, it is very probable the teacher goes to jail and does so in the not so distant future.

We’re not seeing the full video. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if it was victim who was antagonizing the teacher. The teacher was wrong to react to the provocation, but I’m pretty sure the kid is no angel either. He also has no right to disrupt the education of the other kids in the class by his antics, and I’m sure this isn’t the first time he’s behaved like that.

Antagonized or not, if you can’t control your classroom, can’t control your emotions, and can’t control your violent outbursts, don’t teach. And whatever you do, unless a student’s life is threatened, or your life is threatened, do not assault a student, it will prove to be an extremely poor life decision.

I taught in the Hispanic areas of Los Angeles. Not as bad as Compton, but still, pretty stressful. I lasted 16 years, I’m proud to say, but 2020 was the end of it for me.

Compton...I checked the Census statistics for 2021...Hispanics made up 69.3% of population...Blacks made up 27.1%...

Compton is different now...Many black people moved out of Compton...

Did you work for LAUSD? Or some other district in Los Angeles County?

I do not think Compton is a good district...No different from when you were still teaching...
