I tip on my Chinese carry out. one: they are a family business, two: I always have bells and whistles on my order. three: they actually do a nice job and pack it for car travel. four: they remember me as a regular and i get some extras they dont do for everyone. Generally i give them a dollar per item ordered, its usually about 10% of the bill.

Ok FReepers. He was ASKED. ASKED.
Blame a business because they ask? You can ignore it. I ignore that very same request all the time. I tip if it’s delivered, don’t tip if it’s pickup.

I always put 0% then put cash in a tip bucked if deserved. Inquiring Bidens want to know when tip is added to card purchase

“Uh uh, I don’t tip. No, I don’t believe in it. … Don’t give me that, if she don’t make enough money she can quit. … I don’t tip because society says I have to. All right, I mean I’ll tip if someone really deserves a tipping, if they really put forth the effort, I’ll give them something extra, but I mean this tipping automatically, it’s for the birds. I mean as far as I’m concerned they’re just doing their job. … She was okay. She wasn’t anything special. … Look I ordered coffee all right? Now we’ve been here a long fuckin’ time, she’s only filled my cup three times. When I order coffee I want it filled six times. … The words “too fuckin’ busy” shouldn’t be in a waitress’ vocabulary. … Jesus Christ, these ladies aren’t starving to death. They make minimum wage. I used to work minimum wage and when I did I wasn’t lucky enough to have a job that society deemed tip worthy. … You know what this is? It’s the world’s smallest violin playing just for the waitresses. … So is working at McDonald’s but you don’t feel the need to tip them do you? Well why not? They’re serving you food. But no, society says don’t tip these guys over here, but tip these guys over here. That’s bullshit. … Fuck all that. … I mean I’m very sorry the government taxes their tips. That’s fucked up. That ain’t my fault. I mean it would appear that waitresses are one of the many groups the government fucks in the ass on a regular basis. I mean show a piece of paper that says the government shouldn’t do that, I’ll sign it, put it to a vote, I’ll vote for it, but what I won’t do is play ball. And this non-college bullshit I got two words for that: learn to fucking type, ’cause if you’re expecting me to help out with the rent you’re in for a big fucking surprise.”

I agree. Now when I do an internet order for pizza at Papa Murpy’s they always want me to add a 20% tip...that’s the default. I always pick 0 but then I get afraid they’ll spit on my pizza!

Yes the writer is an idiot little girl. But as long as workers depend on tips, and if their service is satisfactory or better, then nothing wrong with a little generosity. But it has nothing to do with “government” or,”employers”, it has to do with me.

LOL, even still...the concept is the same.

I do have occasions where I give a tip when I am getting takeout. There is a Chinese food place I have been going for years, and they make an unbelievably good Traditional Chicken with peanuts, hot red peppers, water chestnuts, garlic, and ginger in some kind of brown sauce. I ask for extra spicy, with no scallions.

When I order it through this one guy, he knows exactly how to get it made for me. It always comes out right.

When he isn’t there, and I have to try to order it with someone else, no matter how I try to describe it, I always get Kung Pao chicken, which I like, but is a completely different dish. (the one I order is called “traditional” kung pao chicken, but all I ever get is...regular kung pao chicken.

I always tip that guy, give him five bucks in cash. Always, even if the entree is just mine and costs $15. Because it is damn well worth it!

I gave up trying to order from other people. I ask for him, and if he isn’t there...I simply don’t get food there.

I have no problem with giving a buck or so for picking up a take out pizza, maybe two if it is delivered.

But if someone asked me? Not a chance in hell.

Personally, when I get great service, I tip extravagantly, because I love getting great service.

Personally, I’ve never ordered a pizza. I’ve been to parties where pizzas were ordered or office functions where pizzas were ordered but I personally have never ordered a pizza. And the reason why is... I can cook a better pizza from scratch in about as much time as it takes for them to get one to my door. So why bother?

My father always tipped 20% even 6 decades ago, for cabs, restaurants, etc. I always thought that was a good amount.

I’ve always preferred to tip in cash, though, fearing that some people don’t really get their full tips.

I stopped going to Subway after the clerk accosted the guy in front of me for not tipping.

I used to go to Subway once in a blue moon to remind myself why I don't go there anymore. Now it's a destination of last resort because their food is barely edible.
