Anyone else feel this is a big mistake backing a loser like McCarthy?
It has been obvious to any of us on FR for weeks that he doesn't have the votes to be speaker and all this would happen yet Trump has backed him with gusto.
He cannot possibly be speaker after all this and still has no where near the votes anyway.
I feel again Trump has made an error in who is supporting or promoting....
I’m not making your point.
Trump has heavily endorsed McCarthy as Speaker in the past by name.
When given the chance to again endorse McCarthy by name yesterday,
he passed.
McCarthy will never be Speaker. He does not have the votes.
Eventually an alternative will emerge that can get to 218.
Who is “they?”
Who is “they?”

People on Free Republic who think politicians who get between 10 & 20 votes are going to be the next Speaker.
I should’ve used a sarcasm tag, it was meant to be a ‘tongue in cheek.’
Ok. Well perhaps true but you have to admit his picks can be pretty bad. I’ll never understand his endorsement of dr. Oz from New Jersey. At least endorse a Pennsylvanian. No way do the people of Pennsylvania want a guy from New Jersey representing them. I grew up there and we hate people from jersey! Thank God I’m in Florida now because it would have been very difficult to vote for Oz.
Bingo!
A real disappointment, the Republican house has had 2 months to sort this out and nothing moved forward, and now this, I am not sure the Republicans can be in charge.

Oz sucked but I doubt any of the other primary candidates would’ve defeated Fetterman.
HamiltonJay has a ‘good feel’ for Pennsylvania politics and he said one of the more promising candidates was disqualified from the primary.
Trump takes advice? He claims he’s his own man.
Perhaps because no one else is close to having the votes to become Speaker, and Trump would like to see the House get down to business.
Bingo. Probably the most inteeligent thing you've ever said here
Remember that Jeffries is sitting at 212.. only six frustrated moderate GOPers are needed to switch over and give him the Speakership.
202 votes is a bit more than anyone else has.
McCormick would have won. But he was not pure enough. That’s where we screw up. We don’t care about majority. Democrats can’t stand Manchin but they would never primary him as he is a number. I’m all for 51 pure conservatives, but our country is a vast political landscape where not each state is the same. Now we get two more years of liberal judges because we demand purity.
Free Republic drinks the GOPe kool-aid.
Wow, maybe shut up and let it play out.
i don’t think we disagree - ?
Calm down, Karen.
Yes, we want the best deal possible, but there’s also a time for pragmatism.
Trump was interviewed yesterday. Asked if he still supported McCarthy
for Speaker he passed on confirming his support of McCarthy by name
and said something like he will have to see what happens.
So he did not reconfirm his endorsement of McCarthy when given the chance again.
Mistake? What if Trump gets nominated? Then he looks like a team player instead of a radical insurgent
I love this. It is showing who the establishment boot lickers are. Look in the mirror.
LMAO!! Thank you for “input.”
