But electric vehicles remain impractical in many cases — for instance, they require significant time to recharge, which could be an inconvenience when recharging in the middle of a long trip…

Plus parking garages will collapse if they are filled with EVs.

Toyota’s one of the few rational players in the auto industry. They’re going to clean up over the next few years as the overwhelming majority of Americans reject BEVs.

"That silent majority is wondering whether EVs are really OK to have as a single option."

I wholeheartedly agree except I don't think we're silent -- just ignored.

And this post was typed by someone who's glad we own an EV and use it for most of our driving. We would never have even thought of getting an EV except that my wife and I need 2 cars anyway and keep an ICE pickup handy for the times an EV won't cut it.

“Silent” my a$$.

We’re just being legislated to insignificance by tyrants.

This is why Toyota is the best auto manufacturer. Their leadership actually has some wisdom and isn’t just trying to placate greenies and leftist politicians.

It should be obvious that all-electric is practical for a limited subset of drivers, but almost all the big car makers are chasing them like they are the only option for the future. It isn’t like Toyota isn’t interested in the eco market, they jumped to the lead in hybrids early on. I think that once the fad in all-electric cars fades in the next few years, Toyota will be seen as a leader for going its own way.

Regarding the push for battery EV cars: where is the legislation requiring public utilities to provide the electrical infrastructure to support the mountain of electric cars? Talk about the "silent majority", or the "silent minority".

I'm not talking just of generating capacity, but power distribution systems as well.

To that end: I would like to see widely distributed power generation, by a multitude of methods. Nuclear (fission). SMRs in every neighborhood. Geothermal. Hydro. Plus the occasional windmill and solar panel.

People may be waking up. The co2 number does NOT matter. Our climate has been what it should be since the beginning of time. It does change...but not because of us. It’s a God thing.

Only 15% interest, but whole car corps are dumping classical ICE in the next years.

Of course, that could be because of the tyrants forcing the change.

I will state it again: technological progress CANNOT be legislated.

No matter what these fools think.

The electrical grid is already under a strain whenever there is a heat wave or cold snap. Having everyone driving an electric vehicle will only make things worse.

This top-down push for EVs was never about emissions or the environment. It's about controlling the mobility of the proletariat. Our masters still remember the Dust Bowl and the Okies and are determined never to let anything like that happen again. Gotta keep the serfs tied to their serfdom. How will people be able to escape collapsing socialist hellholes like California if their EV needs to stop and be recharged three times before they get to the border?

Enjoy your new Electro-Trabant, comrade!

It doesn’t matter what the facts are, ie “electric cars only will ruin this nation”, it only matters what the left declare to be the “New Truth” ie “electric cars Wil, save the earth”

There are several major blatant lies circulating throughout the world right now, ie 100’s of biological sees, math is racist, man is causing the world to implode, we can’t define a woman, etc, which the wo4ld is gobbling up as “gospel truth”- i5s as thouhg God has sent a “strong delusion” upon th3 wicked of this world

I love EVs, but anyone putting all their eggs in that basket is going to regret it and fail. The goal should be 20% - 25%. I would never give up my other ICE cars. Even though I really enjoy mine, if I had to have only one car it would be an ICE vehicle.

As it stands now, EV is just another choice in my stable.

Toyoda said that other options like hydrogen-powered vehicles were starting to receive a better reception from government leaders.

Biden and his stooge crew missed the boat again who knew.
