n this day in history, Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy — the 35th president of the United States — was assassinated while riding in an open-car motorcade in downtown Dallas, Texas.
The shocking event of 59 years ago happened near the end of JFK's third year as president.
Riding in the same car as Kennedy and first lady Jacqueline Kennedy was Texas Gov. John B. Connally, as well as Connally's wife, Nellie Connally.
That same day, the suspect in the shooting, Lee Harvey Oswald, was arrested. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as president that day as well as the stunned nation absorbed the blow of so suddenly and violently losing its elected president.

Those of us who lived through those days remember it sadly. After Johnson became president and drafted young men to go to war in Vietnam, the country became chaotic. The country as it was is practically unrecognizable today.

I remember everyone being in shock when we heard about this (in GITMO). I was in the 6th grade. We were sent home, and the base was glued to our televisions watching the one channel available.

Although I have heard all the conspiracy theories and some of them sound possible, I think it was fear of a strong leader who will stop the drift, even then, toward the New World Order that caused the assassination.
No, it eliminated a person who could tell the true story, and his assassin knew nothing about that. Silence the one who had to be silenced, by one who knew nothing of the reason for what he was being told to do.
I knew when I heard about the killing of Oswald that the crime would never be solved. Or maybe WAY into the future.
Made the only deal he could to prevent WWIII, and all the truth still isn't known.

Nov 1963 I lived in off campus Wheaton College. A freind from high school stoppped over on Nov 9, my birthday. He opened his suitcase. it had a long rifle that screwed together and thus fit in the suitcase. And a few had guns. a lot of ammo.
He told me the commies were going to try a coup d’etat in Tx. He and his militia buddies were going to TX to stop them. He had trained with “I Led Three Lives” triple agent in CO. He had led a demonstration at the Minneapolis Airport. He was proud of a photo he has of himself about 20 ft from JFK holding a sign “The troops should be in Cuba, Not Ms”. A big hand gun wasvisible bulging from his pocket in the photo.
Never once had he been questioned by law enforcement. They had enough undercover agents and informants in the militia group to know who everyone was.
I had heard conspiracy stories from him before. So I went to my YPSL far left crazies. They had heard the same rumor. They also were armed to the hilt and headed for TX. But their rumor was that the Far Right was the aggresor.
On Nov 22, 1963 Dallas TX had jundreds of far right and hundred of far left armed to the hilt. Half of them were probably undercover FBI and other alphabet agencies. Half were true believers. We don’t see any of that in the Warren Report, or any other report. Not from the left. Not from the right.
Subsequent to Nov 220,, 1963 both extremes realized they had all chickened out... all but one or two of them. (Jack Ruby?) Both organized extremes fell apart until LBJ escalated JFK’s war to the 1968 level. Then the Left extreme started to organize again. But it was splintered by racial politics and sexual politics. So the extreme left was mostly fighing other extreme left groups and not focused on the riht.

Sorry. I was responding to the sentiment, not to you personally. Just adding to the argument what we know now.
For the longest time after Nov. 22, 1963, I believed the standard line that it was pure heroism on Kennedy’s part. It was actually better than dumb heroism but the masses would not have accepted it at the time.
