Jay Leno suffered "serious burns" in a gasoline fire on Nov. 12, but looked happy and healthy in a photo shared Monday after he was discharged from the Grossman Burn Center
Jay Leno is headed home.
The former Tonight Show host, 72, was discharged from Grossman Burn Center in the Los Angeles area on Monday, nine days after he suffered "serious burns" in a garage gasoline fire. Center staff shared an image of the smiling comedian alongside several of his caretakers.
"Comedian Jay Leno was released from the Grossman Burn Center today," doctors shared in a release obtained by PEOPLE on Monday. "After a 10-day stay at the facility, Jay will receive follow-up care at the Grossman Outpatient Burn Clinic for burns to his face, chest and hands he received during a fire at his home garage. Jay would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received, and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes. He is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and friends and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday."
Within the statement, his physician Dr. Peter Grossman added, "I am pleased with Jay's progress, and I am optimistic that he will make a full recovery."
Leno underwent treatment involving surgical excision and grafting procedure, which removes unhealthy tissue in an effort to promote wound healing and reduce the risk of infection. Grossman said that with Leno's burns, "much of the thickness of the skin was injured" in some areas, so unhealthy tissue was being removed.

Thats not the point. He doesn’t work on cars because he has to. He works on cars because he wants to. Jay Leno’s Garage is a television show for crying out loud.
I heard that he was attempting to light up the alcohol fired steam roadsters. He was on fire but didn’t know it because alcohol doesn’t burn with a flame
From the pic, his right hand has some damage also. Remember he had surgery and grafts done....so he will look a bit better than when he was first burned.
I have had 2 supernatural things happen in my life that I cannot explain. one was I burnt my hand on an exhaust manifold and my secretary at the dealership, a Lumbee Indian, came running over saying “Let me talk the fire out” She cupped my hand and whispered into it. Burn gone, no pain at all. I have no idea how that works, but I can attest it worked!

Before he was famous, he was sleeping in doorways in l.a. He came out from n.y. to make it big with no money. The story is that some cop saw his plight and tried to help him out.
So, good for him in that respect.
He really loves cars.
I have seen him in l.a. driving his cars 2 times.
He was driving the old Chrysler turbine on the freeway in l.a once when I passed him on the road.

I enjoy watching his YouTube videos. He’s really into his cars and is very knowledgeable. Good for him.
In the case of steam cars, they use gasoline to fire the burner that heats the water to make the steam.
If you watch his older video on the White Steam Car, the one he was working on when he got burned, he says that the steam in that system gets to 600°-700°.
In fact, in that video he jokes about dangerous the fire system is on that car due to how much gasoline it leaks while getting the burner going.

When I was about 5, I had a large wart on my thumb. A lady friend of my aunt spoke to it and it was gone the next morning.
That was 67 years ago and I still remember how amazed the adults were.
Actually, was not the battery cable. Was a spark from a battery powered impact drill. I guess he just did not think. There is a very good reason for pneumatic impact wrenches.
He won’t make the same mistake again. He is lucky to have another opportunity.
Leno said he has always worked two jobs, and saved the money from his highest paying job. Paper boy and waiter. Dishwasher and comedian.
He said when he did the Tonight Show he also did lots of comedy acts on the road to make money and practice his material.
He saved all of the money from the Tonight Show and lived off of his standup routines. Although I wonder if some of that savings was “invested” in his car collection. I think that would be a reasonable investment. Better than Bitcoin.
At the Volkswagon dealer in our town the guy went out to the designated smoking area out back. There were several drums there and from the photo it looked like they used them to set there coffee cups on, etc.
I guess somebody had moved a new drum over there. It was empty of liquid but still had the fumes inside of it.
BOOM.
From the photo only two of the five or six drums was knocked over, and no fire damage that I could see. Hopefully the worker survived. The only news that I can find is from the day of the accident.
Hi, rl. My impression is that Leno lets himself seem just lefty enough to stay in show biz. I remember when Obama was elected, there was almost a chill across the land from anyone making Obama jokes, even in private emails. Obama levied draconian requirements for anyone working for the Admin, asking for every post ever made on social media, and having a tattle hotline. But Leno was one of the few who actually made some mild jokes about Obama.
He also worked on Last Man Standing for a number of years, where the main character (Tim Allen) made numerous positive references to Reagan and various maga topics, manly stuff and guns, while scoffing at his liberal son-in-law. Hence Leno couldn't have stood being in the cast if he was truly leftie.

Looks horrible. Jay won’t care. His fans will still love him and he will continue to say funny things every minute of his life. Sure, he is a leftist but treats everyone joy. I wish his car shows had better film editors, since the scenes are quick and jumbled.
I am very happy Jay will be making a full recovery.
My understanding is the ‘steam’ car had a gas powered boiler. That gas line clogged and Jay was unplugging it. Gas leaked onto him and somehow was ignited. W
A lawnmower conked out. I walked to one side and while twiddling with the front I leaned across and didnt pay any attention to where I put my left hand that was holding me up. I didnt notice anything as I worked for a minute or two. I started smelling pork chops frying. Thats odd, the Mrs doesnt normally cook pork, certainly not for lunch...I wonder what shes up to? I let my head drop from looking to the right and saw I had grabbed the muffler. I didnt feel a thing until I let go...AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
