Elon Musk orders Twitter workers to commit ‘hardcore’ this week — or get fired

Elon Musk has reportedly given an ultimatum to workers: Commit to a “hardcore” Twitter or leave the company.

“If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below,” Musk told employees in an email that was sent to them Wednesday morning. The existence of the email was reported by the Washington Post.

Those who fail to sign the pledge by 5 p.m. Eastern time Thursday were told that they would be dismissed with three months of severance pay.

Musk told employees that Twitter “will need to be extremely hardcore” moving forward, according to the message.

“This will mean working long hours at high intensity,” he said. “Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”

The ultimatum comes as Musk — consumed with the fear that disloyal employees will sabotage the platform — reportedly has ordered senior staff at Twitter to comb through internal Slack chats to identify disloyal employees to fire, according to Insider.

"This will mean working long hours at high intensity”

Is that a long curse word to the left?

Click this link or you’re fired. He’s the boss. He can say that.

He should just fire everyone, and ask them to reapply and evaluate them as new employees.

It will result in a ton off civil cases, which are likely to result in payments with NDAs.

I would think Musk knows this, and factored it into costs.

I work and have phenomenal relationships with Tesla employees. They are no joke and demand accurate and focused responses with no mercy on deadlines.

I can hang and they love me for it, but Musk’s attributes are a breath of fresh air in the business world that raises altars to AA, Diversity, and other sacred idolatrous cows.

I recall Zappos had a novel policy to ensure engagement. after 90 days on the job, the employee would be offered a more than modest cash incentive (~$1500 or 5%) to walk out the door......

Just before Musk took over there was a video of a twitter employee describing her typical day.

She strolled in around 10 or 11, and checked her email. Then she went and got some free food and snacks. She attended a meeting. Then she went to the game room for a while, then attended another meeting.

She then ‘de-stressed’ (after this enormous workload, apparently) in the yoga/meditation room.

At no point (except for the two meetings) did she seem to do any actual work.

This is how you run a company. Perform your duties or leave with your severance. No more Casual Fridays every day with employees scooching around the office on their toys, and doing the least just to get their paycheck.

That's what many of these Social Media and Hi-tech companies have become...a playground for their employees. I believe Trump's Truth Social will work for his hardcore followers, but Musk's new Twitter will become THE epitome of "free speech" in the Social Media arena.

FaceBook is dying and for good reason. Tic Tok will be around for sometime as an outlet for every dumb ass who thinks they are important with their silly videos. Everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame.

This isn’t fair! First he took away paid lunches. (they have to buy their own). Then he took away nap time. And the third and final (insult) is no more yoga time! Who can work under those conditions???

Sure! Great way to have — ZERO — employees for three months...

Once fired, because the company has more than 100 employees, all fired employees receive 100 days of pay (in lieu of working for full pay for 100 days while they screw up the company).

I think EM has this.

Sounds like pretty simple sentiment analysis using NLP could find most of the low hanging fruit. They've already got to have that in their stable to previously identify "misinformation".

Not with 3 months severance pay. They have to show damages. That’s going to be hard to get around when CA is still an at-will state.

This is what I don't get.

It's not like they are selling milk or bicycles or any other widget that requires ingredients, labor, design, packaging, marketing, etc.

Twitter is just some piece of software loaded on a big computer, already done. Plus a few wankers to watch the computer to see that it stays plugged in.

WTF?

What a waste of money on the part of Musk.

I figured some kind of lib depression/anxiety BS.

Either way, I’m on Musk’s side. He’s trying to clean out the Twitter closet.
I would imagine their pay is/was pretty decent.
