Which reminds me...last month there was a Rodin exhibit at the local art museum (this is true), but there wasn’t a single flying monster in the whole exhibition (also true, but for a different reason).
More people now dying from alcohol deaths than traffic accidents.

I have a bottle of Absinthe I purchased and had sent back to me from Europe.
I’m not a huge fan, but it’s an interesting liquor to have around as a conversation item.

I know enough not to drink it - vile stuff made from wormwood. I much prefer a good scotch.
I happened to be at the duty free shop in Canada last week what saw Absinthe (both green and white) was available. Having heard of it I bought a bottle of about 90 proof.
Took a shot of it, wow strong. Caught me by surprise and had me coughing. Has a licorice taste.
There’s a large liquor store in the Detroit Ares called Total Wine, they are supposed to sell Absinthe.
Goth as in sad teenagers with black hair and too much eye makeup or one of the barbarian tribes which sacked Rome? Quite a different vibe to the bar depending on which.

The old Absinthe had thujones (among other things) in them that it doesn’t have today. There may be some truth to the myth/legend. Supposedly a lot of artists went to that drink as a muse. It did alter mental state some (to what degree is debated) but also contributed to decline, and a certain kind of dependency where being without it made one feel sick
