I have a bottle of Absinthe I purchased and had sent back to me from Europe.

I’m not a huge fan, but it’s an interesting liquor to have around as a conversation item.

One of the legendary stories about Absinthe is that Vincent Van Gogh was drinking absinthe when he cut off his ear leading to the idea that Absinthe makes you crazy.

The old Absinthe had thujones (among other things) in them that it doesn’t have today. There may be some truth to the myth/legend. Supposedly a lot of artists went to that drink as a muse. It did alter mental state some (to what degree is debated) but also contributed to decline, and a certain kind of dependency where being without it made one feel sick
