My wife and I were taking our usual evening walk with our dog on Friday. We walk about 8 miles a day---combined before/after work and at lunch.
We were walking Friday evening before meeting with friends and while coming up a hill we noticed a guy blowing leaves---he appeared to be finishing up as he walked down the driveway, then started to walk back up. His house is on the left side of the road and we walk on the left side (toward traffic). There's no sidewalks.
As we approached him he kept walking towards us, stopped blowing leaves, then all of the sudden went full throttle right at us...we were being pelted with debris. We started yelling "Yo---what the hell"? He was looking right at me and we had a yelling match over the sound of his blower. He finally lowered the blower but used it [still] at low speed. He yelled "Why the hell do you have to walk on this side"? I yelled, "Common courtesy is to stop the blower even if they're on the other side"
We had a few more choice words for him and him at us---he didn't even apologize... then noticed he had a BLM sign, Shapiro sign and a "Pro choice" sign out front. As we walked away my wife said to me "Look at your shirt---it must have triggered him". I have a "Grunt style" shirt that's black and white and rifles in the shape of an American flag.
There's no other reason that could explain it...he was triggered leftist. We live in a semi-rural area of Bucks county,PA. These people are dangerously deranged.

All the time that the DOJ talks about white supremacy, the media has been fomenting more and more fear and hate, and the two go hand in hand. Even though there is absolutely almost nothing they can point to, they’ve convinced people that it’s some sort of looming existential threat. Even voting republican in large enough numbers to win is a “threat to democracy” somehow.

Very sorry that you both were attacked. It’s harder and harder to exist in a world where violent leftists are confident that they won’t be punished for their actions supporting their opinions. In the “old days” we relied on the fear of arrests and fines forcing some degree of civility. With those who regulated behavior consciously being made a target - police are fearful and courts ignore bad behavior - it’s hard to think how to protect those you love when you are doing something so innocent as enjoying the world we’re so fortunate to live in.
Sadly or gladly, the night before our men’s group did a teaching on the Beatitudes-—and it was on “Being a pacemaker and Christ like in every way”.

Kudos for the word “Douchebag” it always makes me laugh.
Anyway, that was my main point-—I don’t expect people to cut to the other side of the street to avoid me, they’re walking and enjoying their time out. I’m working and the considerate thing to do is stop-—wave hello then continue. It literally takes 10 seconds.
BTW, there have been a few rare instances where I didn’t see the person and I immediately apologize....it happens but I quickly own up to it.
To which I’d add: You can have a polite political discussion with an old-time liberal.
That is utterly impossible with a modern leftist. Everything turns into a lecture where they talk, and you listen. And heaven forbid if you even slightly disagree with anything they say. Then you will be called every name in the book.
That’s why I will not engage with them. It would be bad for my blood pressure.
The left knows they at war and who they are at war with. We don’t. Start by returning to this house and spread roofing nails all around his yard and driveway. Do ut fast and smart, cover your license plate and get away fast. Stop as soon as possible, pull the plate covers off, take off the dark hoodie and go on your way.
