I apologize for the Vanity upfront. That said, can we come up with a list of movies that don't lecture about climate, race, abortion 'rights', sexuality, intolerance, 'migrants' etc.? I fully realize there are lots of crucial issues facing all of us and that this is not that important, but when occasionally looking for at least an hour or two of escape it would be nice to not have to be assaulted by the left's agenda.
Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words | PBS
About the Film In 1948, Clarence Thomas was born into dire poverty in Pin Point, Georgia. His father abandoned the family when Thomas was two.
His mother, unable to care for two boys sent Thomas at age 7 to live with his his (illiterate) but street smart grandfather.
I actually loved “The Hunt”. I won’t spoil it for anyone, but see it, it’s not what you think. It’s an action/dark comedy.
The Darkest Hour—no woke politics, sex, nudity or profanity—and it even features a cat!
“They Shall Not Grow Old,” documentary about WWI.
“The Party,” (1968) with Peter Sellers.
“Hacksaw Ridge,” (2018) w/ Andrew Garfield, dir. by Mel Gibson.
“Dirty Harry” movies.
“Breakthrough,” (2019) w/ Chrissy Metz.
“13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi,” (2016).
“Machine Gun Preacher,” (2011) starring Gerard Butler.
“Richard Jewell,” (2019) dir. by Clint Eastwood.
“Heaven is for Real,” (@014) w/ Greg Kinnear.
Thomas's confirmation hearings were bitter and intensely fought, centering on an accusation that he had sexually harassed Anita Hill, a subordinate at the Department of Education and the EEOC. Hill alleged that Thomas made multiple sexual and romantic overtures to her despite her repeatedly telling him to stop.
The hearings were chaired by Senator Joe Biden...who displayed his penchant for self aggrandizement and unintelligible verbal word salad.
Watch the kiddie shows..animated series… on all providers. They push climate cange, evil oil and fossil fuel and diversity…white=bad. Once they do tgat I tell my 5 yo grand it is lies and bad information and not allowed in our home. She is okay with that because she understands what a lie is.
Sorry for my arthritic fingers… misspellings..
“The Searchers!” But, virtually any John Wayne western.
I’ll add “Animal House” and “Young Frankenstein” to this group of movies that could never be made now. Sold my DVD collection a couple years ago, but made sure that I kept my old copies of these three, as I know that any re-release of any of them will be hacked to pieces so as not “to offend” anyone.
Come to think of it, a lot of Mel Brooks’ movies fit this category fairly well.
I almost forgot life of pi.
Saw it last night...I’m sure the woke attendees in the theater all had heart attacks....
***Best Movie for 1946: “The Best Years of Our Lives”***
It’s the best movie for all years.
Try going through Critical Drinker's movie reviews on youtube: A few movies in the past year or so fit this. Top Gun, Joker, Northman, Everywhere All the time all at once, Prey (on Hulu), Peacemaker and Jack Reacher series, Spider man from last December with all 3 Spiderman, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, etc.
Otherwise, its "the message" being shoved in your face and poor, poor writing. The writing today is just bad.
I own Secondhand Lions, too. My boys enjoyed it when they were growing up.
They did have heart attacks. Somehow, liberals came away with the message that is was pro Orange Man. What? Huh? How crazy does one have to be to see Orange Man in everything? The movie was well done, relied on great script and acting, no CGI tricks. It deals with mental illness, abandonment, isolation, and whole host of other themes. But somehow, its about a troubled white man that actually seems sympathetic at times? And that is why movie critics suck today. One has to look at Rotten Tomatoes and read the audience reviews to actually find out if it is good or not.
