The COVID Cult Proved How Desperate Westerners Are for Meaning
American Thinker ^ | 16 Oct, 2022 | J.B. Shurk

In the face of abusive government mandates, social stigmatization, and gross disrespect for human rights, a firm few said, "No!"

What is the meaning of life? What is our purpose? Why are we here? Daunting questions whose answers have been sought since mankind's birth. Although we mortals will continue to debate the nature of our existence for as long as we exist, I know this: we are not here to scream at each other for not wearing three layers of masks or to force each other to submit to experimental medical injections just because some very powerful people say we must.

SNIP

Yet it is entirely too clear that for a large number of Westerners, this kind of COVID authoritarianism has been tantalizingly appealing. After governments declared a public health crisis nearly three years ago, far too many people were willing to turn life upside-down. Schools closed their doors to students. Churches closed their doors to the faithful. Shoppers fought for toilet paper and cans of soup. Politicians and bureaucrats suspended constitutional rights in the name of "emergency." Without actually witnessing people dropping dead in the street or suffering through any medical symptoms, Westerners turned on each other quickly, and the worst impulses in humanity came springing to life.

Chaos during perceived crisis is nothing new. When humans are confronted with danger, only ten to twenty percent are capable of remaining calm and behaving rationally. The rest have a tendency either to be somewhat paralyzed with fear or to react in such a way as to become a danger to themselves and others. Politicians, whose entire profession is predicated on the cynical manipulation of human populations, know all too well how to rile people up and exploit their natural weaknesses for maximum advantage.

I'll never forget walking through grocery stores in March and April of 2020 and seeing hysterical women screeching at others to put masks on and social distance. They were literally being scared to death of the big, bad COVID. The grocery stores put those silly one-way arrows up and down the aisles and little "batter's boxes" at the checkouts so people would know where to obediently stand while waiting to check out.

Now I know firsthand how Nazi Germany was possible.

And things did not return to “normal”, either. The lines on the floor are gone, but the PA system blasts a steady stream of encouragement to take Fauci’s death cocktail.

In my neck of the woods, the COVID interval was used to replace human checkout with automated, anyway. The masks made everyone unfriendly and now there’s no one to be friendly with, anyway.

With the cashiers playing “all hands on deck,” constantly wiping down the handles on all the refrigerator door handles.

There was one woman that looked at me out in the parking lot, and asked “Where’s your mask?” I lied “I have COPD.” She looked at me and said “Me, too.” and took her mask off and we went in the store.

At that point, I hadn’t yet had one to throw away. Not long after, when I was hanging out at my favorite fishing hole (also a popular park with the homeless) a homeless guy I’d seen a few times came up to me and gave me a mask in a plastic bag. The local bum-enabling institution was handing them out. I asked him what I needed it for. He said “Use it to keep your nutsack warm, for all I care.” Hanging out around the lake gave me a different perspective on covid. The homeless weren’t social distancing, were sharing pipes, and associating with people that had just come into the area. Nobody ever got sick. One of them had a black mask at about the time it came into vogue to match your mask to your wardrobe. He said he liked it because it made him look like a ninja. I asked him where he got it. He said he picked it up in the parking lot at 7-11. All of this was after the city closed the park briefly. It soon became evident that the fushermen were not going to stand for being locked out while the homeless had free run of the place. The city posted all of the playground equipment, and taped it off. Looking back, it was nuts.

Having lived through a half dozen pandemic emergencies I never got the shot, even though I’m well into the vulnerable age group.

This time the government response was way over the top.

Eventually I got COVID. I’ve had worse hangovers. ;)

The systematic destruction of the church and faith has had long reaching side effects. People are desperate for something to believe in. Take away Christianity and they’ll latch on to anything to fill the void.

Politicians and bureaucrats suspended constitutional rights in the name of "emergency." Without actually witnessing people dropping dead in the street or suffering through any medical symptoms

And then they came out with and did their est to mandate an experimental gene modifying drug so we could all witness people dying in the streets...

... in the trash ... where it is every bit as effective in protecting me from a respiratory virus as is the one you have on your face “protecting” you.
